searose is contemplating the writing still in front of here, and
kixxa just posted her Rygelicious epic. There are stories in the works all around, and I'm excited about all of them, and I'm feeling snippy because I wanted the third installment of Robyn Bender's Talyn series for my smut fix, and those pesky real lives/computers seem to be interfering, so I decided to mindlessly count up how many words and pages of Blue Eyes I've written (I didn't personally count them - it's one of my favorite features on the newest versions of MS word, word and page count as you go):
Words: 60,434
Pages: (10 pt. font, Times, space and a half) - 112.
Hmm. Thought it would have been more.
Also, someone told that amok was a Portuguese word. Anyone know if this is true?

Date: 2003-09-08 01:13 pm (UTC)But they could be wrong. 'Amok' and 'amuck' are various spellings that could have converged to mean more or less the same thing.
Congratulations on having a 'monster' fic!

Date: 2003-09-08 02:10 pm (UTC)But, hey, 1600s, it's possible that Portuguese "explorers" picked up the term from Malaysia. I'd need a research library to find out. ;)

Date: 2003-09-08 04:16 pm (UTC)Ahem.
Must find something to keep me from pulling out my hair ... (I was not born with the patience gene).

Date: 2003-09-08 04:29 pm (UTC)I have little patience when I want something. I was terribly annoyed to not find the fic I wanted last night, and said rude things about people who post WIP's (and then said rude things about myself for being pushy and presumptuous:) Fortunately, I have some self-control, and some sympathy for the time suckingness of real life and managed to not harangue anyone.

Date: 2003-09-08 04:34 pm (UTC)I probably sound like I'm over-reacting but I'm PMS-ing and dammit, it IS the end of the world!!! ;)
Glad you and Cret are posting tomorrow, though! I'll be waiting ... :D

Date: 2003-09-08 04:40 pm (UTC)It's the same way when I order something. When I don't have time to watch it or read it, it comes the next day. When I've planned my week around the previous deliveries time schedule, it always takes the maximum amount of days to arrive.
And CK has already posted new stuff on her blog - or rather, the link to her WIP's.

No, not harangue no... ;]

Date: 2003-09-08 05:02 pm (UTC)But I actually do have sympathy and understanding for real life constraints ( despite the content of my e-mails) - but not when I want fic that was supposed to be posted five days ago and is supposedly done. Does that make me a bad person, or just self-centered and greedy?
