[livejournal.com profile] searose is contemplating the writing still in front of here, and [livejournal.com profile] kixxa just posted her Rygelicious epic. There are stories in the works all around, and I'm excited about all of them, and I'm feeling snippy because I wanted the third installment of Robyn Bender's Talyn series for my smut fix, and those pesky real lives/computers seem to be interfering, so I decided to mindlessly count up how many words and pages of Blue Eyes I've written (I didn't personally count them - it's one of my favorite features on the newest versions of MS word, word and page count as you go):

Words: 60,434

Pages: (10 pt. font, Times, space and a half) - 112.

Hmm. Thought it would have been more.

Also, someone told that amok was a Portuguese word. Anyone know if this is true?

amoq, from the Malay, according to Dictionary.com

But they could be wrong. 'Amok' and 'amuck' are various spellings that could have converged to mean more or less the same thing.

Congratulations on having a 'monster' fic!

That possiblity for amok was the one I was given. I like that version, true or not.

It is a monster, and printing it is gonna be a bitch:)

Hmm. I never encountered the word when I was living in Portugal, and it doesn't appear in my Portuguese dictionary in any variation of the spelling.

But, hey, 1600s, it's possible that Portuguese "explorers" picked up the term from Malaysia. I'd need a research library to find out. ;)

The Malaysian influence seems to be the key. And here I was so confident of my knowledge of European history and completely unaware of the Malaysian connection with Portugal. They get left out a lot though, the Portuguese, not the Malays.

This has been a most frustrating weekend (and beyond) for me - I'm looking for fics and site updates and numerous things and it seems like EVERYONE is having RL crises or comp issues and nothing is available! ARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahem.

Must find something to keep me from pulling out my hair ... (I was not born with the patience gene).

*g* I'll have new Blue Eyes for you tomorrow, if that's any consolation. Probably midday. Cretkid's got some new stuff in her derryverse fic.

I have little patience when I want something. I was terribly annoyed to not find the fic I wanted last night, and said rude things about people who post WIP's (and then said rude things about myself for being pushy and presumptuous:) Fortunately, I have some self-control, and some sympathy for the time suckingness of real life and managed to not harangue anyone.

The thing that annoyed me the most is that she says this fic is *finished* and the only thing that needs doing is some tweaking, so why does it take more than two weeks to tweak? And if you don't know it's going to take two weeks, why say it will take two weeks?

I probably sound like I'm over-reacting but I'm PMS-ing and dammit, it IS the end of the world!!! ;)

Glad you and Cret are posting tomorrow, though! I'll be waiting ... :D

hee hee. I felt the same way and said the same things:) I'm working on being understanding. But mostly I feel bitchy about it:) That's not screaming for me to get satisfaction though.

It's the same way when I order something. When I don't have time to watch it or read it, it comes the next day. When I've planned my week around the previous deliveries time schedule, it always takes the maximum amount of days to arrive.

And CK has already posted new stuff on her blog - or rather, the link to her WIP's.

Yup - I've been going back through the day's posts and am reading the chapter she put up ... sigh ... late last night! Man, I get so far behind with these things!

But at least now you have something to read:)

No, not harangue no... ;]

Not you, silly girl. I felt no need to harrangue you. I just whimpered a lot:) Ok, so I did mildly harrass you with highly encouraging, guilt laced prose:)

But I actually do have sympathy and understanding for real life constraints ( despite the content of my e-mails) - but not when I want fic that was supposed to be posted five days ago and is supposedly done. Does that make me a bad person, or just self-centered and greedy?

LJ wouldn't let me send this yesterday. With luck, there'll be a new chapter today. I got home too late last night to write.

Hee! Swamp fic was 42,002 words. (I love that two on the end!). And you've written half as much again! Congratulations. I'm dying to read it. I love LATP stories and I love your writing.

Ahh, thanks! I much enjoyed the Swamp fic. I just adore Rygel and you handled him beautifully.

And I'm trying to finish Blue Eyes, but it's taking awhile:) I need to set a finish by goal:)
