Our apartment is stuffy. Really stuffy.

And I have seen the new digs of [livejournal.com profile] iamsab and [livejournal.com profile] projectjulie and it is good (it is lovely actually and reminds me rather desperately of the places I lived on the East Coast, when I was a different girl, myself in training, and it made me nostalgic and happy and distracted and that could also have been the fact that I finally got my period so yeah for reproductive organs finally doing what they're fucking supposed to because if I squint really hard, I'm actually supposed to having my period this week, four months of ovarian/uterin fucked-upedness aside).

And then there was yummy southern Indian food, and I really did write, and [livejournal.com profile] iamsab got her neighbor to hang their artwork and it is indeed a lovely home for the two of them.

[livejournal.com profile] kernezelda, if that anonymous LJ necklace was from you, humongous love and hugs. And I give you that even if not, and again if not, thank you thank you thank you to whomever it was from!

I am writing this short story, and it's going terribly well, so (because why mess with fate, and fate mostly tells me to not finish my original writing if I can help it), a meme snatched from [livejournal.com profile] kellifer_fic

Give me the names of two characters and I will tell you why character A loves character B. I might answer with a drabble, a quick bit of meta, or a list, just to make things that tiny bit more OMGSOEXCITING!.

Feel free to go panfandom. I'm always happy to make things up.

And finally, Multiverse is live. I love Multiverse, even if I haven't written for it over the past two years.

Oh, and I saw Once last night. I have no words for how much I loved this movie. No words at all. But if anyone wants to talk about it's utter genius and absolute sweetness, swing on by.

Oh, Once. So unbelievably good. It's funny, the first time I saw it, I kept thinking that something bad was gonna happen, like she was gonna lose the job, or they were going to crash the motorbike. I was so afraid the whole movie! And then it turned out to be this movie about these people who were just really good slowly winning over everybody, and I think one of my favorite parts is when Eamon realizes that they really are good, even if they've never recorded before.

And then, because of my work I got to bring a screener copy home on DVD and rewatch it at my leisure, which was pretty fantastic even if it did periodically have some text come up at the bottom that reminds you it's a screener.

Also, I think that the first shot after the credits, the long shot of Glen and his guitar and OMG Say It To Me Now is possibly one of the best ideas in cinema ever. And it was so great being able to go, "Yes, yes, it's really like that! He's really like that live! And that's really his guitar, I've seen that guitar, with all the holes in the body from being played so much!"

And then the end, from their last scene together on, it was just...perfect.

I want to see it again immediately, because I was in absolute denial over the ending, so much so that I didn't cry because I didn't believe it.

And yes, it's exactly how I feel when I watch them live, and it just... the whole theater felt like it does when you go to a Frames show, right before Glen explodes into the first stunning chorus of the evening, totally quiet and engaged and enraptured.

Of course I kept hoping that it would end differently, but I think I knew how it was going to end when they did that exquisite scene in the dark at the grand piano at the studio. When he asks her to come with him and she says, kind of teasing, "Can I bring my mother?" Just, GAH.

I loved the ending actually, because he gave her something perfect, and didn't need anything back because she'd also given him something, and gah!!!

just last night i was listening to "when your mind's made up" for the millionth time (I LOVE THAT SONG) and thinking about how fabulous that movie is. minervacat's parents saw it and recommended it, so we went to see it and loved it. a must-own. min's mom even bought the soundtrack and sent her a copy. of course, i have a soft-spot for irish movies, but it was also just so nice. and i was actually happy with the ending, although i kept expecting him to miss his flight.

Oh, I was happy with the ending, but normally anything like that turns me into a bawling mess of tears (even happy tears) and I was so surprised that the movie had been willing to do that. That every moment made lovely sense, and was so very real, and unmanipulative and lovely, and I think more than anything, I was just surprised because it's been so long since I've been surprised by a movie.

I've wanted to see this move for omg so very long because I'm in absolute mad passionate love with The Frames, and then everyone I know saw it before I did, and I finally feel like I can breath.
