Dude, there is a reason that people make fun of Californians.

It Could be A Long Quirky Ballot

Ah, the Governor's race. Let's recall a governor, who is definitely flawed, and replace him with someone else. Oh, wait, that's called an election and we had one last November. It truly is the American Democratic process at it's finest. At least it looks like Arnold will be a no show.

There is UnCon activity going on. [livejournal.com profile] searose is writing a Chiana and Rygel left behind fic. And she's taking suggestions. Go harass her with your input. [livejournal.com profile] themoonbar issued a pre-premiere challange for the [livejournal.com profile] farscapefriday drabble challenge and there was talk of the drabbler's at ScaperCon doing something. They'll probably be laughing to hard, though.

I did fullfill my desire to loll on the couch last night, and I actually did watch the T.V. Fox reminded me why that's not such a good idea by airing something called, I believe, the Oddest things to be taken out of a person. It was beyond disgusting. Also watched a little Without A Trace because I have a teensy little crush on Anthony LaPaglia (even though he looks like an old boyfriend who I didn't like all that much), and Scrubs, which I continuosly forget to catch but which just sets me off into giggles when it's on. There, I have acknowledge that there is non-genre based pop culture. I feel much better now.

The weekend should be filled with telephone calls to relatives, cementing travel plans and packing. Instead, I'm betting on carousing. C. and I are on a mission tonight. Actually, she is on a mission, I'm just trying to get out more.

And, it's the first day of August. For everyone who had a really and truly crappy July, [livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl and [livejournal.com profile] infinitemonkeys, particularly, although I know there were a lot of others who just had to weather the storm this month as well, let's hope August roars in like a lion and finishes the summer off with some fun and some joy.

Oh, and a moment of silence for Sam Phillips who died on Wednesday. To hear Terry Gross' great interview with him, go here.

My boss (not my editor, although she too is my boss) just came into my office and said "Burgeoning? Doesn't that have too much sexual innuendo?" The sentence was Burgeoning artists listen intently to their instructor. Some people, minds in the gutter, I tell ya. Hmph:)

He just came back and asked if I wasn't supposed to be writing to a fourth grade reading level. I said I liked the word, that my editor said it was ok, so it was staying. He just raised an eyebrow and left. I need to make sure it's still there when I proof the layout. Sometimes things mysteriously disappear from my copy!
