Learning Curve
Jun. 4th, 2003 12:37 pmThings I've learned, that I shouldn't have to relearn every week:
Do not read Red's Tuesday Fic at work. The giggling makes you very conspicuous. Seriously, though, I love this. It's like a(n almost) weekly treat of snark, smarts, great writing and the characters I love, all filtered through John talking through Red.
It's pretty spoiler safe, even if it is post Season 4, and absolutely worth reading. The experiment itself is intriguing. It's less a WIP than a weekly episode, more like the series than a long fic, even though it picks up every week where it left off.
I'm tempted to try something similar, if only for the writing exercise, but I have enough trouble with plot in a linear story line, I don't know if I could sustain it for weeks on end. Maybe I'd learn to plot out a plot though.
The Brain Matters meme told me that I was 50/50 right and left brain, which I think is pretty accurate, and 70% visual, 29% auditory. What happened to the other 1%? This cracks me up, but I don't think it's wrong. I'm not sure how it can measure auditory learning though, everything was about visual perceptions. Meh. Whatever.
And finally, I have decided - especially as an only child - that parents should come with warranties. No breaking until a reasonable age, and 55 is just too young. But thank god my mom actually went to the hospital instead of engaging in her typical voodoo. Witchhazel, flax and sublingual vitamins don't have much effect on heart problems. She was more worried about me, and her car, which is apparently still in valet, at least that's what she told me. She was incredibly annoyed that they wouldn't allow her to use her cel phone or bring her palm pilot too her. Stupid unreasonable hospital employees wanting their expensive machinery to actually do it's job:)
