Midweek, slouching towards the end
Jan. 7th, 2004 12:54 pmTired, oh god I'm tired.
And I frelling hate the California legislature this morning. I'm doing an article on legislation that became effective on the turn of the new year, and while I know the gist of the laws, I'm having a hell of a time finding the bills themselves. This, annoys me would be too mild, but it really does. Then I have to read the laws and that makes me cranky.
If any of my fellow CA residents know of any recently enacted legislation that effects parents or education or even is odd or interesting, let me know. Educational code is unforgivingly boring, although I found that they passed an actual bill changing the language used to discuss failing schools from "low performing" to "high priority." Dumbasses. I should be more respectful of our government, but dude, my taxes paid for them to come up with that gem!!
Also, any CA residents out there who took the Golden State Exams? That program has been axed due to budget constraints.
In addition, M. is not sleeping (this is the real reason for my exhaustion). He has purchased a Johnny Cash CD and a Joan Jett CD. Now, don't get me wrong. The Man in Black is, well, the man. But M. only plays three songs from the album, and he plays them over and over again, and really, who needs to hear Joan Jett at 3 a.m. No one I tell you. NO ONE! And by no one I mean specifically not me.
He kept the cat up too and the cat kept trying to bug me, like he was saying, come on, I know you're still awake. Nobody can sleep through this. Poke, poke. I know if I claw you on the nose you'll get up and entertain me. Ratty cat. Siamese are just contrary sometimes. At least when M. is home the fullblooded Siamese doesn't cry.
I had thrilling things to say, but I seem to have lost my point.
Oh, this is also a GIP. I stole this gorgeous icon from
pdxscaper. I loves it, yes I do.
suelac's writing Liv fic. She's so good, I tell you. It makes me giddy to see new snippets.
And, um, I signed up for
double_helix's femslash ficathon. I've never done a challenge of this sort, and um, don't really write slash, but I like the idea:) Because I need more things to write. Someone just smack me.
Oh, and to the Tom McRaeites. My office mates would like a word with you. They're very, very tired of this CD. However, I'm not:)
Hee, and on a final note,
kernezelda beta'd the
shrift's Birthday story. Made me giggle like a fiend, especially because at one point, she wrote next to a sentence ( Insert, "Fire,Fire" in best Beavis voice). I definitely need a B and B, "Fire" icon!!! or a "washing the dog" one, or perhaps a ," heh, heh, we killed him and buried him in a shallow grave." Smut for anyone who gives me the "who" of the killing and the burying. Dude, I knew my brain cells got lost somewhere, and clearly that was those late nights in college watching Beavis and Butthead while the cat fished for Beavis' hair!

Date: 2004-01-07 06:30 pm (UTC)Well, to be fair, they were *stupid*. You didn't get any college credit for them (like with AP tests), and the teachers just shrugged their shoulders and didn't really prepare you for them (so you'd get a Bio practical and go *huH?* to everything), and while supposedly if you earned recognition on nine or more tests, you got a gold seal on your HS diploma, I did so and go *nothing*.
But I am noooooot bitter. *g*
Re: education and children -- my college roommate just started interning with the Dept of Child Welfare (or some such) in Sac. She's coming Saturday -- is that too late to ask her about a possible article?
