Our DSL equipment provider, COVAD, and the phone company are apparently having a shouting match over our service. According to our ISP, someone from COVAD just hung up on the phone company. That's a brave technician, and it made the customer support guy giggle into the phone with me. Yeah for this not being my fault, even if it may mean spotty service until they work things out. But I was right, it's not the router so nyah, nyah.

Oh, and low and behold, it's the lads from PacBell at the door now!

It's already been a Monday. I have reams of data to disaggregate about the California Standardized Test Scores. The state compiles them, puts them online and then leaves it the schools and the media to do something with them. There's a reason that I bailed on taking statistics. This all makes my eyes blur and my head hurt because I want it organized before I interpret it, dammit. And it doesn't help that the DSL keeps going on and off when I have to pull all of this data from online. Grrrr.

And for [livejournal.com profile] haphazardmethod, in case she doesn't read the comics: August 18th's Boondocks. That just about sums up the recall campaign. And why can't I get a comic to appear in here?

Boondocks and Get Fuzzy. Two things that always make my day a little sparklier.

And I managed to post my [livejournal.com profile] farscapefriday entry to the [livejournal.com profile] uncharted_tales community. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] shaye for pointing that out. It has been fixed.

I am halfway through the second book in the Morgaine saga. [livejournal.com profile] suelac was right. I'm loving it, and can very much see CB playing Morgaine, although it's confusing the issue in the text because I want her hair to be black. But then, I always do a little mental recoloring with blond heroines. That's nothing against the blonds out there, I've just always done that unless it really interfered in the characterization.

There has been no screaming from the telephone closet yet, which is suspicious, so I should probably go see what they're doing. Boys from PacBell just told me that there's nothing wrong with the lines. I remained calm, even when they told me I could call if the telephone lines went down. They're lucky that there was nothing hurlable within my reach.

LOL.

I love Boondocks.

We should grab coffee some weekend so I can give you the book.

Absolutely. That sounds like a fabulous idea!! E-mail me, or I'll e-mail you, whichever's easier! ( You probably have a much more complex set of factors to work around than I do:)

I love the Boondocks, and have been taking horrible amusement from the abuse they're laying on Kobe:) That they're getting into the recall election just makes my heart sing.

*snerk* It's amazing people's heads don't explode when they say something that remarkably stupid. OTOH, in this day and age of cellphones, they probably just assume everybody has one.

Unfortunately, what he meant was that he couldn't fix my internet problems at work, but if our telephone lines went down, then he could fix them. So there you've got twice the stupidity:)

Geniuses I tell ya! I understand not knowing what the problem is, but that "you're crazy and there never was a problem, so clearly you made up not being able to get online for a week look" just makes me irate.

Get Fuzzy! Heehee! Isn't that just the greatest comic? I've been reading Groovitude and just bust up laughing because of it. And that's a huge accomplishment for a comic.

You know, I never thought of that... but you're right. CB would be great as Morgaine.

[livejournal.com profile] suelac suggested that "casting" when she recced the books to me, and so far it's spot on, all that strength and focus and purpose with those tiny hints at vulnerability.

And I really, really love Get Fuzzy. You gotta love a cartoon where the main character's life goal is to eat a monkey:)

FYI, there's a fourth Morgaine book, Exile's Gate, written several years after the first three.

Thank you:) It's nice to know there's more to read after I finish these (they're all packaged as one so it's kinda like reading one really long novel).

I'm very glad you're liking the Cherryhs. I'm almost inspired to dig out my copy of the trilogy and reread, but I have an entire shelf of TBR right now, and Alan Furst's Night Soldiers in my backpack (recommended by SL).

That's one of my problems as well. I've got TBR books stuck in piles all over the house, but I get distracted so easily by the pull of rereading things I love. And I really am like the Cherryh. All that conflict and tension in Vanye, where his duty really lies. MMMM.
