This isn't really the sort of day where you want to complain about petty things, like your car getting scratched (new car. sigh), or your staff being particularly stubborn and ignoring the 'my word is law' rule that I finally had to enforce, or M. wanting me to see his "grooming habits" and being mad when I refused. Because dude, I found your Nair for Men when I was stealing back my hydrogen peroxide. I know you're mowing down there. And frankly, that's more than I want to know. It's been many a year since I wanted to see your wang, and quite truthfully, I didn't want to see it that much then. Keep it in your pants boyo. In it's freshly mown hidey hole.)

So instead, the things that have made me happy today, and on a regular basis.

1 - the absolute sweetness of Cat A when it's just the two of us, and he's not putting ratty cat feet on my face. He's just a snuggly mass of black siamese nuttiness. My best boy.

2 - the beyond adorable pic of me with the Cmonkey. In a baby pool. Wearing a wifebeater, holding a beer in one hand and the Feldspawn in another. It is everybit as white trash adorable as it sounds. But this kid's growing up to be a genius, not Britney. Plus, there were added bonus pics of [livejournal.com profile] cretkid looking like a cracked-out babushka with her moebius scarf on her head, and another of her with Princess Pollywog the mimc. Utter crack those crazy cute babies.

3 - the sweet and nutty and clever stuff that I get in my e-mail from friends. It really does make my day brighter, even if I'm waaay easily distracted.
Like this: http://www.ironicsans.com/2007/09/contest_win_original_adam_rex_artwork.html. I could spend HOURS doing that.

4 - the possibility of more freelance work that I enjoy.

5 - the imaginary NY TIMES Book Review interview I did in my head for my non-existent collection of short stories. I was brilliant, let me tell you. (I... I've never given imaginary Oscar speeches or press interviews, but today was a getting away from it all kind of day in my head, since I can't get away from anything in my office).

There are more. Many more. But y'all share now. Tell me something that brightened your day.

I'm doing chores tonight, and it's dark, and I am walking past the paddock. The horses are bedded down (well, in MY mind they are. In their's they are still Up.) ;).

and to continue what I was saying.... Anyway, I am walking past the paddock, and I hear this VERY quiet nicker from Joy. She looks at me, says I LOVE you, and I like TREATS. So I ran to the crab apple tree and picked her a couple ;) She was greatful.

And then Shaughnessy asked for scritchies and we had a LOVELY snuggle. She was SO sweet and hugged me with her head while I scritched the hard to reach spots under her chin and on her belly.

and my tub, full of hot water and epsom salts and lavender essential oil, which has me feeling lax and clean and happy (I first typed satisfied, which is also accurate, but prolly falls under the TMI dept ;).

My day was brightened by my students being silly little things, by the student offering that she really got the lecture today, by my mother offering to pamper me when nothing more is wrong with me than hormones plus combined front stalled overhead, by my friends being my friends, by my bed being cozy and my teddy bears fluffy.
