Drive-Bys are for Summer
Jul. 11th, 2007 11:44 amSo, I'm moderately swamped at work, but I miss y'all.
Anything you want to ask me, you go ahead? I'll return the favor. It can be fannish or RL related or made up completely.
New car is love. So much love. The birds that live in the wires above my parking space? Way, way less love.
I continue to also love Entourage despite it's fairly lackluster season, and am enjoying Flight of the Conchords far, far too much. It's absurdist and hilarious and very, very dry.
I cannot make my liberated office chair raise up as much as I might like, however. But I do love my office.
Finally, shoes!! Seriously, go play at
feetwantout. There are absolutely BRILLIANT challenges to come:) Plus, I really do spend an unprecedented amount of time obsessed with my feet, so it's only logical that I'd expect other people to be equally obsessed (and the So Cal living means that anyone raised here honestly believes that flip flops are a staple, not an optional fashion accessory.)
I have posts brewing in my head about home and place and things that summer generally makes me think of, but that'll have to wait until I figure out why the server hates me and erased my runsheet.

Date: 2007-07-11 08:09 pm (UTC)TWO HUNDRED AND SEVEN YEARS OF ALUMNI ARE EXPLODING WITH RAGE.
They just introduced it this week, and mere words can't express how incredibly furious nearly everyone is. AUGH.
Ahem. Anyway. Favorite spot on campus and missing being a student are two different answers. ;) My favorite spot on campus is Mead Chapel, or really walking up the hill looking toward it, that moment when you just clear the trees and can see the words carved on the front, "The strength of the hills is His also"; because at that moment you can turn around and see the mountains behind you. It's the closest thing to a genuine religious experience I've ever had, walking up the hill on a perfect day and seeing the words and the mountains and feeling some bigger hand was at work in making it all so incredibly beautiful.
The place I miss the most being a student is the dining hall I always ate breakfast at senior year. I could pick a table with a view down to the west, across the fields, see just a corner of our house if I craned my neck, and I would sit with a cup of tea and read and was guaranteed to have at least five people I knew stop by and say hello and good morning, or join me for breakfast and distract me from work, and on one memorable occasion drag me into a conversation told entirely in puns related to trees.
