Half Days Are Almost Better Than Vacation

itsallovernowTaking a half day today to go play with S. and M. and super cute baby (who is still hairless at nearly two years old, but adorable nonetheless and in fact corrected her grandmother the other day when her grandma was trying to tell her about one of her other aunts, her aunt Emily. Tiny shook her head and very solemnly said, "No. Annie!!", assuming her grandmother had just gotten horribly confused. Loves tiny brilliant child:) Snort. Kids, they're like cats that talk!
Things I've learned about trucks and truck-owners of a certain varietal: There is apparantely a market for these things that hang off the hitch on the back of a truck and look like testicles. One of the ads I just processed had them in flesh colored. Rolls eyes so very very hard as I snicker into my hand like a 12 year old. Apparently, the truck having balls somehow does.... what? Increases it's chances of getting some tail? Do you want your truck to be getting more action? Are testicles suddenly a selling point? I mean, I don't look at a guy and think,"MMM, I bet he's got a fabulous pair of balls in there." But, then, I'm not a girl truck, or a gay male truck. Who knows what trucks fantasize about.
My novel writing class continues to rock. Everyone's really hitting their stride and I'm pretty sure that the stuff that's happening in the NIP is stuff that's organically evolving both from the world I've built and from the characters. And yeah, I'm cannibalizing all my fic skills, all my sci-fi and fandom knowledge, but I think I'm turning it into something of my own, which means I'm nearly ready to set up the journal for the novel. Gulp. That's scarier than taking it to the class. They think it's amazing that I can build this world. They have no idea that I've been learning from the best all these years and my world-building is still second banana to everything else (play to your strengths, I say). I might have uncovered actual plot though. Hallelujah.
Real life has stymied my Dr. Who, S2 consumption, but I plan to get back on track shortly, because I've got 10 minutes left of "Impossible Planet" and the suspense, it be killing me!!
