cofax7's belated birthday present. I've got the file as a doc, and can send it to anyone who wants to write anything else. I'm looking to finish it and get it beta'd by the end of this week, so let me know ASAP.
Still snotty. Send bourbon. And virtual miso (I think chicken soup is sorta disgusting, unless it's Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup which I know is disgusting and love anyway). Oh, and porn. Send porn.

Date: 2006-01-23 07:29 pm (UTC)River reminds him that doctors make the WORST patients, in her more lucid moments. And she somehow conjured up some miso soup, which actually does remind him of home, but which doesn't make him feel much better.
What Simon really wants is Bourbon, but he knows that the therapeutic modalities of a hot toddy are limited. And there is no bourbon to be had here on the outer reaches of nowhere.
So instead, he lays in his bunk, propped up on pillows, wishing he could taste something other than the fuzzy rat that must have somehow died and rotted in his mouth.
So he imagines the taste of bourbon. And his mind wanders back to the last time he had bourbon. And he can almost touch, feel, - well, taste, then - (gorram mixed metaphors, his analytical brain says) the tastes that followed the bourbon.
His mouth is suddenly full of pungency. She ate spicy foods, and he could tell. It only made her more attractive, more exotic. Simon lets the synasthesia of taste and texture and memory wash over him.
And in his dream-fuzzed state, he wonders what Kaylee would taste like. Sweet, he imagines. Soft. Smooth. Comforting.
And his mouth doesn't taste so awful as he drifts to dreamland.

You realize, of course, that I haven't written fic EVER pre-you, and creative stuff since I was a teenager, right? and you realize that I KNOW I am messing with characters and style and probably with canon, and that it is overdrawn and that I don't care cuz it was fun to write?

and hey, one more therapeutic suggestion: Hot water, lemon juice (fresh or organic concentrate, if possible, real lemon if you have nothing else), gobs of honey, cayenne pepper - it should help ease the cough and the sinus congestion. Also, hot steam baths for your sinuses, add eucalyptus or tea tree oil if you have them....

Date: 2006-01-24 02:11 am (UTC)as we leaned i took the chopsticks out of the miso with some seaweed attached....and we had this epiphany when we realized we were both about an inch from a snail shell that was propped on the tip of the chopstick.
it had been in the seaweed. time slooooowed, then stopped, then zigged sideways. not that i don't love escargot. but really. not in my miso. it's much better with garlic. and the shells are a tad on the crunch side. ;)
i hope you're feeling better soon, and yay for the crack!fic! story. *hugs*
