Finally With the Holiday Cheer
Dec. 18th, 2006 01:57 pmAmazingly enough, it was the overcrowded Target in Hollywood that finally kicked my Christmas spirit into gear. Of course, I was still stumbly and shell-shocked by the crowd, clutching my plastic tub of glass ornaments to my chest as I attempted to balance toilet bowl cleaner and Murphy's oil soap on top.
And in my defense, I did leave the peacock feather tree at the store because it seemed an undue burden to put on the cats to ask them not to eat the tree.
But I now have a tiny jingle bell wreath, a slew of red candles, and a fruit bowl stand full of beatiful glass balls.
It's weird, this urge to decorate, but the house is clean, the crocheting is going well and I'm just waiting for the aliens to return me to my upright position.
Not a lot of fannish activity going on lately, but I do have a few confessions to make:
* Due to the staying up too late with the OCD crocheting, I have been watching Craig Ferguson in real time with M. I may have developed an entirely inappropriate crush on the man, to the point where I'd really like him to come over to our house and drink beer and Red Bull. M. thinks this scenario is unlikely, but I haven't had an inappropriate crush on a TV icon for some time and am frankly sort of enjoying it.
* Okay, so maybe I have more than one inappropriate TV icon crush. So sue me. Counts to self. Four, okay, I have four. Okay, maybe five, but does it really count if everyone else also has a crush on Hiro? I thought not!
* I have a ridiculous desire for holiday fic. I cannot help this either. I want SG-1 holiday fic. Inappropriate holiday fic. I totally want inappropriate FS holiday fic. I have no issues with a happy, sappy ending, but I'd kill for some good end of the world, middle of a firefight holiday fic.
On that note, there's been some very yummy fic posted recently:
minervacat's Valentine the Destroyer which continues her Vala/Daniel, Vala/Daniel/Mitchell serious and is just so good, so true to the characters, is sexy and warm and sad and tracks absolutely.
Also,
sugargroupie just posted a lovely sweet and bittersweet Farscape story, post-WSS The Right Thing to Say, which is NC-17 and sexual, but layered and lovely.
I want to tell the piles of work I have to piss off and stay home and write. Unfortunately, I like living under a roof and the cat likes it even more.
