I spent 13 hours straight doing a layout yesterday. I do not deserve sympathy as had I started this two months ago when I should have, I wouldn't have had to spend 13 hours on it. (On the plus side, I quote 10-15 hours to the client, hoping for 10 but banking on 15 and the sum total was 15, so it's good that I've got a sense of my own timing, especially since this is the longest layout project I've tackled). InDesign and I are friends today, except for the stupid page number system which really is just stupid. And oh how I want to upgrade to Illustrator CS2, so very, very much.

TV was watched on Friday night.SG-1 )

SG:Atlantis continues to not interest me much. I find Sheppherd to be sort of disingenuous and his voice bugs me, pretty as Joe Flannigan is. Actually, I think the fact that there are two strong female leads and they both bore me is also problematic. There's a reason I got sucked into SG-1 this season and not in prior seasons.

And yes, BSG was beautifully paced and structured and continues to make me want to beat my head against the wall. BSG - tiny spoiler )

And the rec: I stumbled across this via friendsfriends, and I have to put the usual disclaimer in. I do not EVER, EVER!!! (except for this one time) read RPF. But this is total and complete crack, it's brilliantly written, it doesn't feel at all like an invasion of anyone's privacy and it's just fucking hysterical. I think for some reason, living in LA and knowing actors and knowing actors that have lived here and lived in Vancouver while on location just makes this funnier, but I guarantee that it will make you laugh in spite of yourself. And dude, there're Zombies!!

I think the following explains a lot about me:

While chatting tonight with [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda, I was also doing edits on my layout project and trying to avoid M.'s running commentary on Alien vs. Predator so it makes sense that I was a tad distracted.

Also, keep in mind that I'm the child of hippies, live in LA, I went to two very liberal liberal arts colleges and lets just there've been a lot of boys in my life who I've adored who've also spent a lot of their time stoned. Certain phrases have particular resonance to me.

Kerne was in the midst of reading the Zombie/RPF crackfic that I'd recced: Illegal Zombie-Actor Cage Fighting (dude, I know this is the second time I've recced it today but you must, must read this - put aside any RPF prejudices and go read!) and was also pointing me to [livejournal.com profile] cofax7's reviews of Friday night's Stargate offerings. ( Found here)

Being in the middle of something, I hadn't yet gotten through the whole of the post, and Kerne was quoting pieces of the fic that she was finding particularly funny. One of the earliest parts involves Jason Mamoa being stoned. This is relevant.

Several lines later, Kerne says, " I didn't know Ben baked."

I, thinking that I'd either not read the fic correctly, or that Kerne had gotten the wrong impression, replied that I didn't know any actors who hadn't indulged from time to time, but that I thought it was just that he was the ringleader of mischief and mayhem. I didn't want her to think poorly of either the real thing or the RPF version.

Kerne continues to quote me lines, undoutedly very confused, but she doesn't say anything.

In the meantime, I go to read Cofax's post. And then all is revealed.

Causing me to go back to Kerne and say, "Dude, you meant baked like pastries and pie crusts. Not, well... shake and bake. Not like being baked."

There's a long cyber pause, and then Kerne says, "I didn't realize that getting baked meant getting stoned."

Hee. "I think this reflects more poorly upon myself than upon you dear," I replied.

It's hard to imagine that the Queen of Evil is really an innocent when it comes to matters of vice and munchy laden liviing.

It's less difficult for me to believe that baked has more meaning for me in terms of pot than in terms of pastry. I don't even partake of illegal substances anymore!!

But dude!

Hee.

And I will write a fic of one's choice, in a fandom of one's choice if they make me an icon featuring the following quote from that fic:

"Bloody men. Tell them there's going to be a zombie cage fight, and suddenly the woods of British Columbia are alive with children and stoned, stoned men running around in their knickers."

Hee!!
