I have not failed as a Secret Santa. Okay, I totally failed at the Secret part by virtue of not being done before the reveal and needing to post something to prove to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie that there was a gift in the works for her.

All of the [livejournal.com profile] uncharted_elves stuff has been fun and thoughtful and very well done. My own offering is as gen as I get in this fandom, is Season 2, and is less what I'd planned to write about, but [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda tells me it's not terrible. It started out as a dark comedy in my head, ended up as something else, largely because I kept thinking about violence and the way that it's part of their everyday lives and how exhausting that must be - the vigilance, the practice, the way you hone and maintain your skills, the way you assess your failings. Not all of that got successfully translated, but it's given me a lot to think about. Part of the comedy got translated into [livejournal.com profile] cofax7's crackfic, which is next on the roster because the situations unfolded in a more organic manner than this story did, but I'm pleased with how this made me think, even if it's not exactly the story I wanted to tell. I wanted absurdity and sexual tension, and instead got anger and exhaustion. Shrugs.

The story is here: Hole in the Wall.

I also wrote [livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie a little LATP filler teaser, Bolivia. Round 1.
