M. and I rang in the new year at the Good Luck Bar on the edge of Silverlake, one of my favorite bars in LA. It was rainy and damp, and the interior of the bar is pure Chinese mafia meets urban hipster. M. suggested we go down to the docks and play mah jong ala Big Trouble in Little China. I laughed so hard that the Chinese Herbal Whiskey came out my nose.

Sadly, today, I ushered in the New Year with a blinding migraine that woke me up at 4 am and kept me on my ass for the rest of the day. I took enough drugs to fell a horse, and managed to drag myself to the car at 5 to take M. to work. Then I wandered Whole Foods in a daze and got Kombucha Mushroom tea with ginger, chocolate tapioca pudding, mushroom soup, cheese crackers and chocolate stout. The patterns didn't emerge until I got everything home.

I'm still moving gingerly at best, mad at the weather, at my body, at the martinis that didn't cause the migraine, but certainly gave it a pretty excuse to come calling. All of this is largely an apology to [livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie, who was my [livejournal.com profile] uncharted_elves recipient and who has yet to get my gift. I was gonna finish it today, but it just didn't happen! However, I do plan on finishing it tomorrow!
Which means I'll need a beta! Volunteers are highly appreciated.

I hope that 2006 proves to be a great year for everyone, and I hope that for myself, it's better than 2005. All in all, I know that my year was better than many people's, and for that I'm grateful. I hope for peace and calm, for joy and justice, for the people I know to get the things they deserve - the love, recognition, success and happiness, and for them all to know how much they mean to me and how much their love and support has done for me.

To everyone who sent me a holiday card, THANK YOU!! I was terrible about saying anything, but I got them all and adored them all!

Happy New Year Everyone!

It's pouring outside (and my condolences to Northern California who got wholloped and then sent the storm down here). I'm sitting under the quilt with one Siamese wrapped around my around, and the other looking plaintively outside at the rain mrrowing to go out in it. I'm so very tempted to say, "Sure, go ahead." open the door and watch the WTF expression of horror cross his tiny cat face as his feet get all wet. He's a perverse little fucker though, and likes water, so he might just go wandering off in it. The white one is no fan of water falling from the sky, which is why he's wrapped up like a mink stole, sleeping with his face pressed against my arm.

Working on getting motivated, and not just sitting here, still recovering and watching the ends of various movies on HBO and Cinemax (we get them for free for four months and it's been so long since we've had any premium cable that M. and I are unable to turn it off or turn away. I've watched the ends of First Daughter, Spartan, Troy, Matrix Revolutions, all of Kinsey, most of Alexander, and 30 seconds of Cheaper by the Dozen in Spanish since Friday).

And now I'm off to be productive. No really, I am!!

I've promised myself that if I finish my Uncharted Elves story, and the rain lets up, I will walk to Sephora and buy some Fresh perfume that smells orgasmically good. The problem with me buying perfume is that I almost always buy what turns me on, so I end up sniffing myself with a dreamy look on my face, uninterested in sharing.
