A New Week Ahead
Aug. 28th, 2005 11:30 pmIn which I will be productive.
I still have plague.
crankygrrl can attest to this. I called her this evening and spent 10 minutes rambling about the plague. Then I was disapproving about her interest in going to a bullfight. Kath, I'll take you to the rodeo first, just to prepare you. But mostly I rambled, right before I went to Blockbuster. Yes, they're evil fascists. They're also right down the street. Hostage, for anyone who cares, was better than I expected for 75% of the movie and then it was just stupid. Sigh. I hate that.
And I did very, very little of value last week and am still unemployed. I need to motivate myself, and think I've finally gotten myself to a point where I have enough to do that I have to start doing something. This is a good thing. And hopefully, the plague will finally start receeding by tomorrow.
Ack, alack and alarum for those people in New Orleans!! I hope they've been evacuated and are safe, I do I do. Weather sucks, man.
I did not get to see Rome. Hell, I wouldn't have even if we had cable right now because we don't pay for HBO, but I was hoping maybe it'd be free preview weekend or something, but no such luck. Well, it still could have been free preview weekend, but us being all responsible about water and power and phone this last month, no one paid the cable bill. Adelphia shows no mercy, but they're customer service people are pretty nice. Not as nice as the credit card people who very kindly gave me advice on submitting my resume online in order to find a new job and pay all my bill:) She also said she hoped I felt better. This, truly, is what you want in your customer service people.
I watched BSG at the home of the lovely
sorlklewis and
iamsab and MK who made dinner which was fabulous. I was a little out of it, and don't remember a lot of the ep. ( What I do remember )
If I could absorb vidding by osmosis (and had the source material on my computer), I believe in my heart that I could make a very kick ass vid to Eliza Gilkison's version of Love Minus Zero/No Limit. Yes, it would be J/A, and it would also be completely unsappy because the way she sings that song would allow for all of the absolute flip flopping of the meaning to be showcased in the imagery:) I never thought about that sort of thing before. She reverses the genders, so it's, "My love, he speaks like silence, without ideals of violence," which would work beautifully with a shot of the opposite. Ultimate violence, any of the end of season big bangs. It would have to be Aeryn's POV, and it's short, and man I wish I knew how to do this, because the music is pretty and folky and it would constrast beautifully with these supersaturated moments:) In so many ways, this song is a picturesque ideal of how John would like her to see him, once upon a time. And what she sees is the steps he's take to become a man of violence, a man of necessity, of action instead of talk, and there's a moment that would be perfect for the point in PK Wars when Einstein puts the knowledge in his head.
rubberneck, since the plague shows signs of retreating (amazing how that happens when I remember to take the Ibuprofen when I feel feverish), I should have a volley for you tomorrow:)
