Floating on
Nov. 12th, 2004 01:11 pmClouds, and waves, and the occasionally palm tree breeze.
Nothing too much going on here at the moment. I'm a little frustrated that I can't take the time off next week that I'd wanted to due to the damned hospital stay. My company has an incredibly liberal vacation policy, but I've stretched it to the maximum and can't afford to take an unpaid day off, especially since I'm cancelling most of my tutoring appointments for the week of Thanksgiving and the weekend of Burbank and taking the Monday after Thanksgiving off because I couldn't afford the flight to MN if I didn't come back on the Monday.
Things will work out, and hopefully,
crankygrrl and
rubberneck will not get into too much trouble without me:)
I'd definitely like to know who else from LJ is going to be in town:) So many of you I can't wait to see again or to meet!
Did very little of substance yesterday. Spent hours in the bath, read Night Train to Memphis for the 100th time. Elizabeth Peters' Vicky Bliss books are so my comfort reading, have been since I was 13. And I fully blame her for my academic delusions towards anthropology and archaeology, although I don't regret said delusions:)
Taught belly dancing, had drinks with a friend I haven't seen in an age, informed M. that the Hussy's were coming without giving him full details of why:) Despite the fact that he absolutely knows what a geek I am, and in fact knows that I went to the con last year, I get embarrassed and flustered stating outright that "Yep, people are coming to town and we are going to a Farscape convention." Hee, if I hint around at it, I have less trouble being absurdly embarrassed. And dude, I've done far more embarrassing things than this and he's been privy to and present for many of them. And I'm not the one who starts fights in crowded trendy bars:)
I do think it would be fun to have a meet up in LA, maybe at Barney's or some of the other place with some of the local LJ crowd, but I don't know what anyone else's schedule is. I should probably stop coordinating things, as I've sorta run out of time:)
