Je suis fatigue, tres tres fatigue
Oct. 16th, 2003 03:00 pmGot e-mail this morning from
crankygrrl in French. Which made me giggle. My French sucks first thing in the morning, especially if I've taught Latin the night before. I spent five minutes trying to remember the word for why and only came up with ubi. I finally remembered, but my brain refuses to follow the nice path I'd like it to stay on.
My favorite Latin phrases remain Cartago delende est and Te Pedicabo. And my favorite non Latin phrase because I read the Livy in English and not - thank you God - in Latin, is "If they won't eat, let them drink," said the general who tossed the sacred chickens into the ocean because their refusal to eat signaled bad omens for the expedition. If I remember correctly, the chickens were right. But the disaster may have just been pay back for the fowl play.
Sorry, left my watch at home this morning and have been antsy ever since.
M. calls me on my cell phone last night at 8 p.m. as I'm driving to my Latin student's house. "It's almost 8, isn't there something you want me to tape for you. And where's last week's episode, and where's the tape?" Snort, the combination of utter sweetness and dorky boy can't find anythingness is just so endearing. If I hadn't lived with him for so damn long, I'd marry him. As it is we're such an old married couple. But it was sweet of him to be proactive about the taping. I had my VCR set for West Wing, which was pre-empted, but still made me think I was crazy because I didn't know this and was trying to figure out how the hell I managed to tape Law and Order.
But he did tape Angel...
( Minor whiny spoilers )
ETA: Happy Birthday
