Still in a lacksidaisical mood, been sorta late to work, just sort of going along. Trying to ride out the hazy dazy feeling good setting my own pace mood. I know it's fated to be smashed to bits, but I'm gonna suck the marrow out of it until I have to eventually give in to reality, to deadlines and stress and all the rest.

Don't forget to nominate things for The Sparkeys. Go here, to their brand new website and do your part.

We need slash to contemplate. And also, there's been some great stuff written this year, so let's give the writers a boost and say thanks.

I could - and probably will at some point - list my favorites in all of the categories, but I'm also guessing they wouldn't be too hard to guess at:)

Says the girl who has a stack of nominations she needs to submit. (I'll just go hide behind my desk now).

Wrote a [livejournal.com profile] farscapefriday drabble that I fear fits more into my Season 1 pornverse than the actuality of Season 1:) This is what happens when obsession takes over. Watching a lot of Season 1 and just revelling in it again, so enjoying the freedom and the ease, how young they all look and the build up, the way that the writers did such a fabulous job of layering in conflict and complexity. I've really enjoyed weaving unseen things through Season 1, it's really allowed me to contemplate the way the episodes relate to each other, how things could evolve from Durka Returns through TTLG to A Bug's Life and explode in Nerve. That last scene in ABL, and I finally, after all of this time, got it that Aeryn knows what's coming. Not the actuality maybe, but that something fundamental has shifted. So beautifully played.

I am looking forward to knew shows to love, will test and taste a variety of new things if I have time.

Been reading as well. In between the crocheting. Read Case Histories by Kate Atkinson and highly, highly recommend it. Much like Atonement a few years ago, this is a book deserving of the prasie it's receiving. It's funny and rough, beautifully woven and hard, uncompromising but forgiving as well.

Also finished The Blue Sword, and it's been interesting to read [livejournal.com profile] suelac's recent commentary on McKinley after having finished these two books recently, largely because I think she nails the things that bother me about the plot and the character. I like the main characters so much, yet Harry at least doesn't question the things she should, and the explanation - late in the book - for why is unsatisfying. Also, in both cases, the love interest proves more conceptual than actual. I understand that these women could love these men, but don't see in the characters of the men the things that are supposedly beloved.
