First of all, huge hugs and absolute best wishes to [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda. Happy Birthday, dear. May the coming year bring everything you've hoped for.

Second, [livejournal.com profile] rubberneck, beta's on it's way to you as we speak:) It's your reward for two, count 'em two, installments of Little Acorns this morning. You made my day:)

Third, if you haven't voted in round II of The Sparkys, go do so now. Cass and Jeff have put an amazing amount of work into this process, and deserve a slew of accolades.

Also, Cass gave us her highly bemused blessing on [livejournal.com profile] the_sporkys, with a giggle and raised eyebrow over the name (she has promised not to sue, and not to turn us over to the Booker committee so that they can sue) and a fervent wish that if our category needs aren't being met by the official awards show, that we tell her:)

I said she probably didn't really want our category suggestions in full, but thanked her anyway. She also asked if we maybe wanted to sponsor a category next year. So, what shall it be, inanimate object porn?:)

Rewrote the first section of Blue Eyes, again. But I think I nailed it this time. If not, I'm gonna scrap the whole damned thing.

Had excellent Cuban dinner with several lawyers last night. They were lamenting the fact that law school beat the ability to write out of them, or at least the ability to write with creativity. They are both looking for new career paths as a result:) Made me a little more pleased with my own career path, I think. And there was most excellent Sangria.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES will you be allowed to scrap the entire thing. Especially not after we've put in all this work on it. (BTW, did you get part 2?)

Huh. ::looks at law degree, looks at hundreds of thousands of words of fic, shrugs::

(Dude, not really scrapping it. I promise. I couldn't I don't think. Just frustrated at my flaws, and the problems I keep compounding. And I did get part two!! Thank you:) I get discouraged because the problems with Part 1 are sort of representative of my fic problems in general, and always have been:) So just when I think I've fixed it, I go back, or send it to Kath, and realize, I haven't fixed anything:(

And hee, Huh. ::looks at law degree, looks at hundreds of thousands of words of fic, shrugs:: I kept thinking of you last night when we were talking about all of this:)

Both of the lawyers were liberal arts students who ended up as lawyers and now look around in a daze, wondering how they got there, but oh so reluctant to give up the condos, giant TV's and perks:)

Um, but see, Kath tends to be picky... :D. And, some ammo for you, for when she gets a bit TOO critical: she once upon a time made a rather unfortunate snood reference. I can find it, if need be. But I do know there was strangling involved....

Oh, I think she and I are pretty even:) Everytime I beta something for her, she ends up kind of overwhelmed and annoyed:) I always want more!! It's a fine trade off. However, I will keep the snood reference in mind as fodder for the future:)

Take a deep breath. Stop looking at it so hard. Your work is terrific, let it tell you what it wants to say.

Thank you dear:) The process is key, I know this. I just want everything right on the first try:)

And dude, how much do I love that icon:)

That shot is, um, definitely inspiring. As is your current icon. Damn, I'm such a sucker. I just love that scene:)

Self: Oh, we absolutely. must. sponsor.

::points modestly to icon:: Perhaps a generic 'Carpe Genitalia' porn!fic category, that would encourage and celebrate any and all variations on the this-ain't-your-mama's-smut theme?

Response to Self: But, but... [livejournal.com profile] the_sporkys are anti-establishment! We would lose the spirit of wacky rebellion if we went mainstream.

Self: Some people might loosen up, see the fun in it.

Response to Self: And some tightasses would grumble and cluck disapprovingly. Do we want to do that to Cass?

...

As you can see, I'm of two minds about it... to share, or not to share...

Agreed completely. That's why sponsoring one category would prove that we do play nice (and we do love the work that the official team is doing, 'cause we do), and allow us to keep our rowdy anti-establishment presence going and hopefully direct the flack to us:) If there is said flack:)

We've been relatively flack free so far, but then, we haven't been making too much noise.

Thanks, Thea! (((Thea)))

Sponsoring a category involves precisely what?

Scrapping Blue Eyes is right out! It's given hours of enjoyment to many people, and it would be a crime against Scaperity to take it from us.

Hey, you need to go check out my icons and see if any of them get the official heads' (you and Cranky) seal of approval.

Sorlk is doing wonderful things with icons over in her user pics. I love whatever font she is using for the 2004 Sporkys logo.

All the icons so far have been fantastic, dear. Give me a day or too and I'll sign off:) Hee hee. I should just give the lot of you carte blanche, I have total faith in you.

I'm not really scrapping Blue Eyes. I'm just frustrated with myself. The damned this is so scopey. There's a lot going on that needs revising, reworking and I don't like doing things badly:)

It's not bad. I just want more of this and less of that, that's all. *grin*

If it were bad none of us would ever have offered/asked to beta.

I know (or at least I think I know:) It's like I said before, you guys aren't wrong, so in order to live up to the standard I want to uphold, I have to follow through, do the work, wrassle it down and get it right. Take out, add in, reshape, rethink, reformulate.

And it's hard!! Hee hee. I know, no one said it would be easy, and I can't even begin to tell you, and my other betas how much I appreciate the work. At least I'm learning things. You guys are mostly just suffering:)
