Midweek Catchup

itsallovernowDear NBC online coverage. You sort of suck in that you won't let me watch video because I can't download some bloody useless piece of software from Microsoft. M. let me watch all the swimming I wanted on his laptop, but that is really not an adequate option.
Work remains kind of... grim but present. We're all trying to make an extra effort through our exhaustion, but it's complicated.
I miss writing. I need to figure out what is keeping me from it. I need to figure out some more freelance gigs so that I don't have any excuse.
I'm reading Kelly Link's Magic for Beginners right now so that I can give it back to the ex-not quite boyfriend and be done. It's... unfair in many ways that I have such good associations with him when I want to be cold and distant and unpresent. Except this book, her work, always makes me lush and hot and giddy and I want to roll around with it and share it. Sometimes, words and life are a bad, bad combination, a nitroglycerine of desire. Words heat me up, and then reality takes the pleasure out of that heat. But at the end, I got to keep the words. I think I win.
Those words get layered on top of all these new boys in my life who use them. And that? I like that very, very much. I like that one of them uses his words exclusively with me - just his words, not his presence. I like that another uses them to bring us both something we want. That when I ask him to talk, he'll talk all I want.
Almost as much as I like the fact that all of the Olympic swimmers can barely keep their suits on.
