Thanks to everyone for the book advice.
I ignored most of it (although filed it for later), but did pick up the first of the George RR Martin books. We shall see if they meet the hype, but I do look forward to getting lost in something. I also picked up Joyce Carol Oates "The Gravedigger's Daughter." When Oates is on, she's still transformative. And dude, you just cannot help but admire how fucking prolific she is.
Since I made the decision to call a cleaning service, I've been obsessed with the idea, even dreamt about a clean house last night. Unfortunately, the cleaning people don't seem to be on the same track as they've yet to call me back and I've called twice! C'mon cleaning people. Call me! Come make my house livable.
Talking yesterday about remakes,(in honor, sort of, BSGs return) and now I wonder what would you remake from a different era? What movie would you turn into a tv show, or what TV show would you update and how? Who's your dream cast?
I'd love to see an updated Avengers, but seriously, I can't see how they'd keep the charm and the tension and the wit with an updated sensibility about sex and technology. I'd love to see something that took place in the past - a spy show from the 20's, or from WWII, with great costumes and smart women with pin up girl hair.

Date: 2008-04-04 08:32 pm (UTC)My first impulse is to say 'Buck Rogers in the 21st Century'...but in a way, Farscape already did that.
*thinks*
I'd like to see Charlie's Angels done well, like, *ever*. Preferably with at least one of them being an older (30-40) woman. Dream cast: Anna Paquin (sp) Michelle Rodriguez, Jennifer Gardener, with an older set of 'Angels' played by Angela Bassett, Samantha Ferris and Michelle Yeoh. (Or Carrie-Anne Moss, except I think she said that she'd never do another action film again, after Matrix.) Russel Crowe as Charlie.
Appleseed is a Japanese comic that is waiting for the CGI to get good enough. That's going to be spectacular, when it happens. (They've got a few versions out already, but I haven't been impressed.)
When the CGI is good, I'd like CJC's 40,000 in Gehenna to get filmed. Especially the last era, with fighting dragons and half-crazied scientists on a lost world. *thinks* I'm going to go with Basset as the researcher, Jennifer Gardner as the monarch, and Vin Diesel as the opposing lizard leader.
