So, hearing more stories about ritual, about those moments where faith and ceremony are still prevelant in our lives, makes me really want to collect these things. Possibly also expanding them into other rituals we have - fannish rituals, created family rituals (in my house, all the homes I've created over the years, the one tradition is that on Thanksgiving everyone must say what they're thankful for from the past year. And while, occasionally, the answer to that is "boobies", I never doubt the sincerity of the moment.), rituals of the self.

However, aside from just putting them together, sticking on an editorial narration at the beginning and dropping it into InDesign, I'm not sure how to do anything else with it.

But, I'd like to do a real call for submissions if it seems like people outside of my flist might be willing to contribute.

Any thoughts?

I would definitely formalize what I wrote for this, and I think it's a great idea. I like the idea of expanding beyond religious/spiritual rituals, too, because I think that there are important connections and contrasts to see between religious and secular rituals. I also know a couple of outside flist type people who may be able to contribute.

I am such a ritual junkie! Fandom to football, religion to the family reunion, I adore it. I love my own, I love other peoples, I love it.

Did you watch Happy Feet? Where the penguins have a god and a theology and everything? Soooooo awesome. I totally dorked out.

Sorry about the grammar...I blame The Thesis. And the fact that lj won't let us edit comments.

I think you better drop me a line when you call for submissions, to make sure I don't miss it.
