Adventures in Technology
Feb. 17th, 2006 06:04 pmSo we have constant tech adventures here in Casa de Thea (yes, this terminology is blatantly stolen from the fabulous Feldman). It is not at all unusual for things to not work, nor is it unusual for me to take things apart when they don't work.
Our cable is a seperate issue all together, largely because it gets turned off frequently for non-payment. But on occasion I've called Adelphia, expecting the cable to not-work because of this issue and it has in fact not worked because of some thrilling Adelphia adventure.
Now, with the influx of digital cable into our household, there's frequently issues with the whole TV/cable thing not working (or turning on unless I manage to hit the correct combination of buttons), and the VCR not working at all because I don't get the right channels in my room and that VCR is just a button pressing VCR with no cables involved, and well... basically, I came home last night, the cable in the living room wouldn't work after me trying for ages, but the cable in my room (limited though it might be) did. So
cofax7, when I was chatting with you last night, I was sitting on the floor of my bedroom watching the figure skating through the table legs of my desk. When I got home today, I called Adephia, paid the bill and they instantly sent the signal back to the digital box. And the guy told me what might be wrong with my TV (which gets 1-13, then transfers 70-80 to the upper 20s and leaves out the other channels including Scifi). I can't believe I'm saying this, but at this moment, I just might love Adelphia!!
And yes, that is the most exciting thing - non work related - that has happened to me today.
However, I might be able to tape Scifi Friday, thereby circumventing the fun but frustrating dance o' the TV that M. and I have been going through on Fridays.
And
simplystars, I will always, always take up the gauntlet for you:)
