Why Start Now?
Jun. 20th, 2003 03:56 pmSince I've avoided all talk of reality, except for whining about the revolting war between my respitory system and the invading germs, I'm gonna end the week on the same note.
rubberneck was speculating on mix CD's, and the exchange thereof, and I thought I'd offer up my personal mix, so far. Now, keep in mind, I compiled it from songs that I already had on iTunes (because I am all about instant gratification, so there are definitely songs that have been overlooked - like the bulk of Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head), but my current Farscape mix is as follows. It's supposed to be an arc of all four seasons, but I keep moving things around. I guess it's also as much a writing mix as anything:
A Space Boy Dream - Belle and Sebastian, Boy with an Arab Strap
Dirty Dream Number Two-Belle and Sebastian, Boy with an Arab Strap
Because they are beautiful, and trippy, and so Season 1 John, I dreamt I went to Mars, but what if I got there and it as all civilized and populated
Horse Pills - The Dandy Warhols, 13 Tales from Urban Bohemia
Totally out of control, and loving it (Season 1 and 2)
Absolute Beginners - David Bowie
The man can't even open doors
Damn, Sam( I love a woman that rains)- Ryan Adams, Heartbreaker
A Human Reaction
Candy Everybody Wants - 10,000 Maniacs, Our Time in Eden
Well, that's pretty much John Crichton, right?
Simple Things - Belle and Sebastian, Boy with an Arab Strap
If you want me, I'll be there to deal with all your problems, but part of the deal is for you to feel something.
In My Place - Cold Play, A Rush of Blood to the Head
The Man Who Sold the World -David Bowie
Again, by the end of Season 2, this is John
Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts - Bob Dylan, Blood on the Tracks
This only makes sense to me, but it's a con, a trick, and the sheer playfull cleverness of it always makes me think of Farscape -and I just really want to have D'Argo wear a big old Pimp Daddy hat.
Are You the One That I've Been Waiting For - Nick Cave, The Boatman's Call
Season 2 - OOTM through LGM John/Aeryn
Cold Water - Damien Rice, O
Plunging into an icy lake Cold, cold water surrounds me know, and I can't let go of your hand
I See A Darkness - Will Oldham, I See A Darkness
Nothing left to live for
No Expectations - Joan Baez, One Day At A Time
Fly - Nick Drake, Bryter Later
One - U2, Achtung Baby
For Shame of Doing Wrong - Sandy Denny, Who Knows Where the Time Goes
You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When I Go - Bob Dylan, Blood on the Tracks
Walk On - Neil Young, Decade Vol. 2
Season 3, ups and downs and pain and beauty and finally a little justice
Hurt - Johnny Cash, American Man IV
Promises - Lyle Lovett, The Road to Ensenda
Promises given
And promises broken
Words stain my lips
Just like blood on my hands
And words are like poison
That sinks down inside you
And some things you do
You just don't understand
Lost Cause - Beck, Sea Change
Early Season 4 - CK to Promises
Delicate - Damien Rice, O
Post Twice Shy
Love Minus Zero/No Limit - Bob Dylan
My love she speaks like silence, without ideals of violence, she doesn't have to say it but she's true like ice, like fire
Into My Arms - Nick Cave, The Boatman's Call
And this is why we risk everything
Every Grain of Sand - Emmylou Harris, A Tribute to Bob Dylan
End of Season 4
A Space Boy Dream - Belle and Sebastian, Boy with an Arab Strap

Date: 2003-06-20 04:43 pm (UTC)Share, share! I love to see other people's mixes, as well as get ideas of new things to listen to. Also, I know you like Belle and Sebastian. You should give Damien Rice a try! You can order O online, and also listen to one of the tracks.
Does this mean you turned your e-mail back on? I hope your weekend is better than your week was.
