My car, bless it's ghetto plastic heart, is either trying to gaslight me or sending out a desperate plea for help. Either is possible.
Yesterday, I get into it to drive to rehearsal and it won't start. I've been pushing the car to the limit of it's gas mileage, so I speculated (with a vain, false, so knows better hope) that it could be out of gas. Finding, to my amazement, a gas can in our possession, I trecked on down the hill, buying gas and oil for good measure. Trekked back up, filled the tank. Nothing. Went to rehearsal, came back, called AAA. The mechanic arrived.
"It's your battery," he said. That same false flickering hope reappeared. He looked some more. "Oh, wait, not your battery." I turned the key. Nothing. He turned the key. Nothing. We did this repeatedly.
"I'll have 'em come get the car in the morning," he said.
"Okay," I said.
I get into the shower. I get out of the shower. There are two new voice messages from AAA saying they came to tow the car, but I was nowhere to be seen. I called AAA. We set up a time for them to come collect the car this morning. I got up. I went out to meet AAA. The guy got in the car. The car started. I screamed. Loudly. He turned off the car. He turned it back on. He got out of the car. I got in the car. I turned the key. The car started. The AAA man left. I screamed some more. I drove the car to work, and am currently praying for my sanity, and it's survival.
On a fannish note,
sdwolfpup informs me that Jacob has a TWOP update for "DNA Mad Scientist." That's like the hostess cupcake cream filling of me day. It's just out there waiting for me and I know it and I don't know how long I can wait before eating the icing off the top.
I love the five things meme. Love it. So, to further encourage it, I will offer random prompts: (Well, not so random, I've thrown them out other places, but so far, no takers:)
1. Five things upon which Aeryn and Chiana agree entirely.
2. Five things that Aeryn and or D'Argo wish they had said or done to John the first cycle on Moya.
3. Five conversations that Aeryn and Vala would never have. Or alternately, that we really wish they would have.
4. Five things Cameron Mitchell would do if there were no consequences.
5. Five things that Fox Mulder would have asked Crichton upon his return to Earth, if given the chance.
6. Five things that Sam Carter would really, really like to tell Vala. And Teal'c. And Mitchell. And Daniel.
