Change is in the Air
Jun. 20th, 2006 11:06 amIt's been a week of big potential change, and the continuation of a lot of old crap.
I'm starting a new job in my company in two weeks, which is good. I get to wave goodbye to assistantdom and embrace something that's more on my career track, even if it's not writing. I'll so miss my group though. They've been really fabulous. I'll have to train my replacement and hopefully, they'll hire someone to be said replacement soon because I've got a bundle of stuff for him/her to do.
The same week as the new position starts, I begin my novel writing class, which both thrills and terrifies me. It's Novel Writing II, partly because of the time, and partly because Novel Writing I was an introduction to the form, and even if I hadn't written anything long form before, I understand the structure and format of a novel, so this should be a good fit.
I'm also officially a Y member, having ditched the shiny sparkly 24 Hour Fitness in favor of the far more quirky and chaotic YMCA. I think we'll be quite happy together.
I also had another petty, petulant not-fight with M. because he's an asshole. (One-sided much. Me? Never). But it ruined my night and I was forced to go to bed and watch the commentary for John Quixote. So very much love for those people. So much love for the geekitude and the enthusiasm and the intelligence and the sheer dorkiness. And gah, just how pretty everyone is, and the sheer appreciation and adoration those people have for each other. As I get older, I realize how important it is to value and like the people involved in your work and your process and it's just really nice to see that in an industry that's so often filled with petty frustrations and backbiting ambition and people who look fantastic together but mostly loathe each other.
And speaking of things fannish, the past week has been a good one for porn.
Not only did
sugargroupie write some fantastically hot, beatifully textured J/A porn for Season 4, When The Rainbow is Enough" (and damn, Shunda, this may be my favorite piece of yours. There's just such eroticism here, so much unspoken, and so much fine, elegant detail, and gah. I love it muchly; but the absolutely fabulous
denyeverything1 wrote scorching, funny, cracked out, genius threesome porn for SG-1 S9 Row, Row, Row. It's Mitchell/Vala/Daniel or Mitchell/Vala, Daniel/Vala, depending on your perspective and the activeness of your imagination. She thinks it's crack, and if by crack you mean fabulous, well then you're right. I, however, am considering it canon. And hoping for a Teal'c infused sequel.
And dude!! She wrote it for me! It's my birthday porn falling from the sky present:) Loves!!
Now, if only I could actually sleep, I'd be set!! Oh, and I've got two drabbles and an extra credit to go!
