The art project is nearly done - I've been held up by something I thought I knew how to do in InDesign, and actually don't seem to know afterall. It really is something that I visualized as a hands on medium, something with paint and texture, but I'm still pleased with the concept and it's been nice to use all of the graphic tools I'm learning to do something that has little to do with design as a commercial media and more something conceptualized.

Thank you all for contributing to the process, which is sort of the point of this, the stream and community of words, the bareness of them, the vulnerability of laying them down on paper, and then putting them down in public. Their is a nakedness inherent in writing, in writing fic, in writing about sex, and love, in shaping stories whether they be case files, mysteries, dialogue, adventures, deaths and births. So much can be read in to any individual sentence or story, assumptions about the author, about their thoughts and perspectives, and yet we do it anyway because it's a bareness and a risk that exhilerates. It harkens back to the idea that as an artist, your work isn't finished until you show it, publish, perform it because the last stage of art is participation with an audience, even if it's an audience of one and that one is your mom. The "showing" of the work takes it out of your hands, puts it in a different place.

If we analyze this as post-modernists, well, it becomes our work because we're interpreting it based on what we bring to the table - which I think ties into both the discussions of feedback and the discussions of characterization that have been going on, and once the work is analyzed on a greater level, we start analyzing the author and then the community that produced that author, and suddenly we have the meta take on the fans as well as the fandom.

I love all of that, the way that even participating with each other in this process is a form of art.

So, here are all of the lines that I've collected so far. I'm going to store this in my memories and will add to it if people give me more lines.

So, as a continued part of this, give me a line that someone else has written that you love (I'd be thrilled to see both published authors and fic writers, but if you have to choose, give me something from fic because I'm so interested in the way we create words within this community).

Y'all are fabulous for humoring me like this:)

For anyone who's interested in what I've been working on, here is a rough draft of the project. I really. really want to try this at some point with actual tangible materials because I want the texture of papers and paint, but this is still - conceptually - coming out close to what I'd wanted to produce. Eventually there will be four of them, like a Warhol painting. Snort.
