Despite my initial despondency, this has turned into a pretty good week.

The interview went well, although it's only the first round of interviews, so assuming I even get a second interview, this process will be lengthy. Again with my Impatience R Us motif. But I want an answer now!! Now, I tell you.

Still, gratifying and it helps me to keep plugging along.

The second book I am reviewing this weekend is really compelling, and yet it uses a slew of different POV's, changing tenses whenever it shifts into the POVs and it is making me nuts. The writer is strong, his prose vivid and descriptive and engaging, but I'm not sure what purpose it serves to have one of the characters filter through past tense, the other through present. It's become a distraction, so much so that I'm looking at the story as a beta instead of a reader and that just can't be good. He also made some very clumsy POV choices in the first chapter that set my teeth on edge, changing POV from one paragraph to another without warning or any sort of cue. This is an advance reader copy, so I'm sure a few more edits will happen, or at least the type setting will be a little different, but I find myself so distracted by things that I'd be screaming at any fic writer for doing.

This week's fabulous offerings courtesy of:

[livejournal.com profile] rubberneck, I got your package and it caused the squee heard round the world. I wore Part A today to my interview, and kept part B from being a cat snack because the fuzzy eyebrows were far too much of a draw! I love you so very much, babe!!

[livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl finally finished my LGM porn! And behold it, for it was good. Thanks Beavis:) Actually, I don't think it's beholdable yet, but it will be.

[livejournal.com profile] fbf, I neglected to mention your fabulous postcard, the fact that you pimped me on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van, and just your general love and support. Hugs you tightly, wills you not to kill any teenagers:)

Amazon sent me my Starburst edition filled to the brim with commentaries and I'm going to gorge on them.

The lot of you pointed me to Arts and Crafts sites and I should have no problem writing my article!! Yeah!

This evening's entertainment promises to be writing, a little Numbers, more writing, a little BSG, editing and then bed. It is unlikely that any of that writing will be of the fictional variety, but one can always hope.
