Going to a conference tonight (well, leaving tonight because I don't want to get up at 5 a.m.). I'll be internet free for three days. Eek. What will I do? I love attending conferences, but I find manning a booth unbelievably boring. My goal becomes collecting the maximum amount of free crap that I can. It's probably why I have a little plastic fish swimming around in a sorta snowglobe on my desk. At least the khakis have been abandoned and I can revel in all black.

Happy, happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] suelac. May the coming year bring everything that you hope for!

[livejournal.com profile] fbf took up the " John naked but for a Santa hat" challenge, and [livejournal.com profile] whitelight1 is also ruminating on it. I'd be perfectly happy to open up the challenge to any of the characters. There's gotta be cultural equivalents of Santa hats in that vast universe:)

Working on Blue Eyes, unraveling and raveling things back up. The end is in sight, and it terrifies me a little.

Still in giddy love with [livejournal.com profile] rubberneck's Moyafic and then when there was no more to read, I went back to read Part 2 of In the Company of Ghosts, which keeps me afloat some days. The skill and the epic quality and the pure, visceral connection I feel to the story. The Moyafic gives me that same feeling. On good days, the feeling is inspirational, and on bad days, well, I don't write much on those days anyway.

Ooh, and [livejournal.com profile] fbf had promised me a sexual reference icon, and here it is. Makes me giggle unbelievably, and I'm so not a John/D'Argo slasher. I think it's also knowing that it's from OOTM, so it's not just J/D, it's also Rygel/Chi.

My mother just called me at work to tell me that she'd watched Battlestar Gallactica. She thought that Starbuck being a girl was pretty cool.

She made me giggle though, reminding me of how much I loved it as a little girl, and how much my father hated it:) But I had one of the fighters, and I had the record, so he must have indulged me. She even remembered that he called it Battlestar Godawfulaca, which cracked me up, because she tended to tune out a lot of my four year old's battles with my dads. We had similar battles over the Dukes of Hazzard. My mother didn't remember that I had the record, though. I'm imagining she tuned it out. I liked to listen to my records ad naseum. It's a wonder she ever watched Star Wars with me because I killed that record.

Mostly, from BG, I remember the cylons, and wasn't there a kid with a robot dog? I loved Starbuck. That seems to be universal.

I didn't get a chance to see the miniseries. But this is Scifi. Odds are, they'll show it again.

Ok, two days computer free. I'm never gonna make it. Again, rough, but we're heading for home, kids.
