I'm only working today and tomorrow, but [livejournal.com profile] cretkid has agreed to extend the Ficathon through the week. Which is good. I think I should be able to finish the next chapter of Blue Eyes by tomorrow at the latest. I hate to post snippets on this, but will if I'm going too slowly.

[livejournal.com profile] kernezelda, I'm betaing away. I'll finish it ASAP, but I don't want to promise it before Monday. I, however, am struggling to be virtuous and not read the end:)

S. and her husband are going to be here on Wednesday, which is causing happy, squeaky sighs of joy. I can't wait to see her. M. and I have spent much time getting the house ready (at least in theory. We sprawl on the couch and discuss what still needs to be cleaned and where everyone will sleep.) He's known S's husband since high school, probably known S. longer than I have as well, and they used to live upstairs from us, so it's sort of a giant slumber party when they come to visit, along with bourbon and absinthe and Farscape and Futurama watching and they're bringing TTT Extended version and have promised to finally allow me to see Kill Bill. Oh, and Thanksgiving, of course.

I must reiterate how fantastic the Sounds Eclectic concert was on Saturday night. Four girls out on the town, and we always takes ages to get anything done, so when we got to the amphitheatre and lined up for drinks, I saw the monitor above the bar and Gary Jules was already starting, so I grabbed my wine and ran up the stars, spilling cheap Chardonnay all over the floor, but I just didn't want to miss anything, and he sounded wonderful, such a sweet voice, and sang Mad World with the guitar. Jem was also fantastic, and I can't wait until she releases a full length album. Beck did an acoustic set, and was his wonderful, quirky, strangely genius self, and sang two Eliot Smith songs, making me whimper and tear up, and then when Damien Rice came on I was about to bounce out of my seat, so glad to see him, and he was perfect, everything I wanted to see and hear, surrounding us with his voice and his lyrics, the cello and light and dark and lushness and I just lost myself in it, had to be shaken back to awareness so that we could leave.

And there was TV watching last night. Alias was pretty good. Minor spoilers )

We also watched Tru Calling because M. had finally figured out how to tape it and it was his reward for sitting through Alias. The only thing I have to say is that I think the producers of that show are assuming their audience is mostly watching to see the hotness that is Eliza Dushku, because the plot, so not that complicated, certainly not so complicated that I needed to have it reiterated five times through flashbacks!!! Noone's boobs are that distracting, noones!!! For M.'s sake, I guess I should hope it doesn't get canceled, but wouldn't it be easier to just bring back Faith?

Oh, and The Simpsons rocked. I've forgotten how funny it can be when it's being pointy and new:)
