Things I have learned today:

-You want to be taken seriously as an adult, don't wear red flip flops with sequins. However, I love them and they were $12 at Payless.

-My mother is not unaware of my costly shoe addiction. The mention of the shoes from Payless was slipped into a long complicated story of my friend who is getting married today who will (over the next year) have three wedding ceremonies. Now that's married. My mother's reaction to the story was, "I didn't know you ever bought shoes at Payless." followed by giggling. Yes, it's genetic.

-All (almost all) of the ScaperCon goers are accounted for. Except for [livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl. [livejournal.com profile] cretkid swears she dropped you off in Niagra Falls.

-I need to pay more attention to the names of people's significant others. My stepsister called to confirm my arrival time and said she was leaving her dog with Sean. I drew a total blank, and then finally remembered that's her boyfriend's name. Problem is, my dad calls him Billy Bob and I talk to my dad about 800 times a week because he calls me when he's bored, and I only talk to my sister once in a awhile.

Hmm. That didn't turn out to be as much as I suspected. The red flip-flop lesson was a surprise though, as I have many non-adult professional shoes.

I also have irrational fears about my upcoming trip, namely that my computer will blow up due to usage by people other than me and all of my icons and writing (and all 70 pages of Blue Eyes, and oh my god this is going to be longer than my thesis) will disappear. I need to burn these things onto a disk today. I'm not afraid of flying, or driving through Wyoming - the biggest dangers there are huge gusts of wind and cows in the middle of the road. I really wish my laptop worked so I could write during the trip.

I do however need vacation reading. [livejournal.com profile] veritykindle suggested Stanislaw Lem awhile ago, and I did read some of him and enjoyed it. I have also been reading Pratchett, and now need some other suggestions. I have heard people talk about Cherryh, but I get overwhelmed at the bookstore and have no idea where to start.

I need to do laundry, go to Virgin and buy more CD's for my father, and pack. I also should pack up my Season 4 tapes for my dad, but since they are moving, I think I will wait because they have a difficult enough time finding things as it is.
