DIP for SACOC

Alright, according to rubberneck, I'm the leader of Covert Manual Operations. That's quite a pun, Feldman:)

Thanks to rubberneck, veritykindle and whitelight1 for drive-by beta. I ran with Feldman's suggestions because it shortened the piece and inspired a slightly different take on the gloves and the time frame. But thanks to all of you. And, it's still obscenely long:)

Not the DIP!!

I'm at work on a Sunday because we are still internet free - goddamned, frelling SBC will undoubtedly still charge me for the service that I can't use.

It's hotter than a sonofabitch outside and makes me feel groggy and ill. The cats stretch out on the wood floor, exposing as much of their bodies to the cool surface as possible and glare at me in blame. U couldn't sleep and my dad called me at 8:30 because he was bored and at least my office is air conditioned so I shouldn't complain.

However, I have much to accomplish today, and will save all the other DIP's for tomorrow as a treat on a Monday.

I decided, after much consideration while I edited this into my DIP, to post the original. rubberneck is right and it's got about 8 different stories running around in search of an outlet, but I think the process of moving from one idea to another is interesting, and now that I posted the smaller (snerk) drabble, I can maybe expand this and do something with it. It has a couple of lines I really like, so I'm just going to post the original for comparisons sake. The final product ended up being much shorter and more focused and in Season 3, whereas I wanted this to take place at the beginning of Season two. However, I think I'd cut out all of the ending - the part actually related to the drabble challenge - if i redid it. So, just because:
