It has been a hell of a week. I'm exhausted, cranky, worried, overworked and will be 29 in 9 hours. As a result, I'm focusing on the things this week that have made me happy:
1. Red's Tuesday Fic
2. Having CretKid rec both A Circle Just and At the End of the Day (yes, I am utterly shameless. What's your point)?
3. Currently, I'm editing (for work) and singing along with Gary Jules Trading Snake Oil for Wolftickets. I bought this because it has the version of Mad World that is at the end of Donnie Darko. It's very mellow and he's L.A. based. I have a terrible voice, but love to sing, so everyone in the office is avoiding me.
4. The interview with Anthony Simcoe on my new Farscape DVD's and Ben Browder's commentary on Green Eyed Monster. They're both such boys. My embarrasing crushes have escalated.
5. Having Different Destinations and GEM on DVD.
6. Having an almost painless rehearsal last night - no fighting, no crying, no dying.
7. My mom is fine, if disgruntled and my dad remembered my birthday (this was enough of a challenge before the stroke. He knew I was having one, just was hazy on the details. Of course, as a teenager, I used to swear he didn't know my name because he called me Kid. He still does, and I've just decided not to push the point. I don't really want to know:)
8. C. made me party invitations, and S. is sending me something to wear, possibly even something I can wear in public. I don't know what she could be sending me that could possibly top the Farscape pillow, but I can't wait to see.
So everyone out there in LJ land. Tell me one thing that made you happy this week, or something that always makes you happy or pulls you out of your funk.

Date: 2003-06-04 04:09 pm (UTC)Sea Monkeys are hard to top - and invaribly make me think of the Space Ghost Coast to Coast show with Banjo, King of the Sea Monkeys. Why Banjo why? Thanks for the birthday wishes. Hope Mr. M has a good one as well!! Sounds like he's a fellow Gemini.

Date: 2003-06-04 04:20 pm (UTC)I am very happy that I finished painting the bedroom. I had, in a fit of style magazine madness, painted it a very modish orange.
The colour made me happy but it was impossible to relax in an orange bedroom and I couldn't afford curtains to match the walls (the windows are very long). Now my old quilt and curtains match the walls (pale green). Happiness has ensued. More happiness will ensue when I've filled out my tax return and moved all the books and CDs back into the room .

Date: 2003-06-04 04:27 pm (UTC)That sounds lovely. Pale green can be such a nice color (although my kitchen in Greece was technically pale green - all Greek apartments have hospital colored kitchens, either pale green, blue or yellow, so that you lose your appetite immediately. The gov't must have had a slew of awful paint to dispose of) so I'm assuming you mean that beautiful spring green.
I can't quite imagine sleeping in an orange room, although I'm sure color wise it was striking. Congratulations and good luck with the tax forms.

My happy for the day (because the week ain't over yet):
Having WhiteLight post a special guest star picture on her blog just for me.

Date: 2003-06-04 05:12 pm (UTC)Happiness for me this week came in the form of a message from an old pal on my answering machine when I got home, holding the Cutest Baby in the World, and having my sister-in-law surprise me with a separate tray of mozzarella and tomatoes in red wine vinegar instead of balsamic because she knew I couldn't have that on my diet.

Date: 2003-06-04 10:18 pm (UTC)Whenever I have friends randomly wrestle with me for no reason. For some reason head locks and noogies from one friend in particular always makes me laugh. I guess it's that whole older-brother I never had thing.
Turning up the radio really loud and dancing around the room also helps with funks.
Basically goofing around and acting immature will improve my disposition if I'm having a bad day...
