What a way to start a Monday!
Jun. 7th, 2004 12:57 pmFirst of all, thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! They were very much appreciated, as were the offers for fic and icons, et al. (And
whitelight1, who is renewing her FS squee wrote a gorgeous, darkly bitter vignette, that is both Aeryncentric and sad and edgy!)
We had a marvelous time. Drinks at The Standard Downtown which is very hip and very cool, and while I am neither of those things, I wore a beautiful dress and drank Sapphire martinis and a good time was had by all. I didn't cry until much later, after dinner, when I called S. for the fourth time that day, and woke her up and started to bawl. I love her muchly, and that she didn't mind, just let me know it was okay, things were good. I meant to get through the day without being absurd or maudlin, and it was pretty damned close. And know that there were people out there wishing me well, and people with me wishing me well, made me take the good kind of stock. The, no I haven't done everything I thought I would but since I don't have a wormhole to take back in time and kick my ass into gear I need to just move on and be happy and deal, kind of stock.
Second,
suelac posted the edited version of Bellum Interruptum. It's marvelous. Dark, beautiful, sad and funny and sharp. Beautifully drawn characters and characterizations, and it highlights that clean, clear skill Cofax has, her worldbuilding, her sense of time and place, action and momentum, and making the tough calls. It parallels Casablanca without imitation, and sets the stage for an entirely probable future, if things after DWTB had gotten nudged just slightly. It's such a beautifully realized piece of work, and well, just go forth, read it and feed the author.
Third, the mini promo pictures are just making me giddy and light headed. Because, well, Aeryn. And her big frelling gun, pregnant and pointin' guns at people and my faith is steady. Plus, she's got her hair and eyebrows back (as
shaye has already said), and she looks gorgeous and deadly, and all of the pics look just so exciting - everyone involved, all of the cast and yeah. I have no idea what relation they bear to the actual production, and I don't wanna know. I'm not gonna speculate or read spoilers because I want to just revel and be surprised. And also, since at this point, I'm pretty much taking
rubberneck's Little Acorns as canon, so anything on the screen is just a welcome addition:)
My mom and aunt teemed up to get me an iPod for my birthday. It's sitting there, and we're blinking at each other like Zorac because I can't quite believe it's real, and I whomped the little voice saying I could trade it in and put a down payment on the laptop - whomped it like the whomping willow because I also saw Harry Potter yesterday and thought it marvelous. I love this little slim piece of technology, and I'm scared it's going to spontaneously combust in my hands:)

And thank you, you're very kind.
Sounds like it was a lovely birthday. iPod! Eeeee!

Not kind. It's a stellar piece of writing and craftmanship!
And yeah, the birthday was lovely, and the iPod and I are going to run away together, I think:)

Date: 2004-06-08 01:05 am (UTC)I watched the WSS trilogy and BT on Saturday to cheer myself up, and thought the same thing. And then I wished that Little Acorns could be filmed, too...*wistful sigh*
