Can one ever have to much smut? No, I think not! I have definitely not maxed out yet!

And now that I downloaded YIM onto my work computer, what the hell do I do with it?

You go get Trillian instead, which will run YIM, AIM, and IRC simultaneously. Silly old bear. *grin*

See, I need you to tell me these things. So now that I've taken the first step, I can follow the natural progression:)

Go to download.com

download Trillian (cerulean studios is the company)

install it.

when you run it, you'll get a funky oval box on the screen, with a bunch of tiny colored buttons along the bottom. Each button is a different IM system. The first one is AIM, the last is YIM.

Right click on a button to bring up the Connection Manager, which will prompt you through starting an account with that system. You'll need a valid email address to give it.

Then you install your buddy names, which are people's screen names. If they're online, they'll show up in the main window of the Trillian menu box, and you can double-click on the name to start a chat session.

You've got a yahoo account, I assume. Run YIM and follow the directions for entering your yahoo account name & password. You'll still need to enter YIM names for your pals.

Thing is, not everyone runs YIM. Some do, some don't. I usually just hang on AIM and IRC.

If you want to run AIM, and I do recommend it, you'll need to go to AOL and get a copy of it. I'm certain they have a version for Macs.

You'll have to register a screenname with AIM in order to use it, but it's fairly simple. I have 3. *g*

Thank you dear! I figured out how to use YIM. I'm currently hassling Cranky while she writes. It's actually relatively productive as she's doped up on cold meds and can't self-edit.

This IM thing is gonna get me in a lot of trouble, isn't it?
