Summer May Start Someday

I find, much as I've enjoyed exploring the other social media blogging platforms, that I truly miss the LJ format. There's intense pressure to be both pithy, ironically clever, and photo heavy on tumblr which is not always my speed. Plus, enabling embedded comments proves to be too complicated for me most of the time.

I miss the community I developed here as well, and feel bad about letting it go.

So, mostly, I'm just hanging in, hanging around. It's been a tough year in a lot of ways - financially, emotionally, creatively. And this past week saw my sweet little cat undergo a life-threatening bought with bladder stones. Thanks to my mom, I was able to have him treated, and while I'm beyond grateful, I also feel guilty, knowing that the money we're all paying out to keep my kitty alive could also be used for human things. On the other hand, no one has given me more love and joy than that cat, so my guilt is purely theoretical.

He's recovering at the vet's now from his surgery, and the vet gave him a hot water bottle for comfort and snuggles. He promptly started making biscuits on it, popped it, squirted himself in the face, and then kept squirting himself in the face. Oh Georgie, you are always entertaining.

The fact that he's hopefully going to be okay makes me realize how fucking lucky I am in so many respects. So very many.

heya darlin' you've been missed. (not that I am contributing much around here, but I am here).

and I am really glad georgie is ok - mew has had some injuries and Beau the horse is still facing some health hurdles (old age sucks, ftr), so I will say that the love of animals and what they teach us means they've earned our care.

also, the hot water bottle squirting sounds you-tube worthy :).

I don't feel bad about taking care of him, I just feel... a little overwhelmed at the financial pyramid of disaster I've created to do see. He's worth it, it's just...scary.
