How is it Monday again?
Aug. 25th, 2008 12:28 pmWeekend rundown:
11 mile walk/run successfully and pleasantly completed except for the part where the cheap-ass leggings I buy from Target to run in started splitting at the inner thigh seam, doing a meandering pull up and down and causing me (who tends to exercise panty-free due to many years as a ballerina) a little consternation of the "do I really want to risk exposing my twat to the universe of Griffith Park or do I want to stop at my car for new pants which I will have to put on OVER the leggings due to too many people and no privacy and not wanting to get arrested for exposure" question. For the curious, the answer was yes. I stopped.
Writer's group went well. My new dance is coming along well. Drinks on Saturday night were fabulous. My current existence is boy free, M. notwithstanding, which is a little disappointing but not a state that has to remain forever.
In other news, having finished my re-watch of Veronica Mars S1, I remain very pleased by the set ups and payoffs and in fact have forgive them a little for what seemed like an unnecessary woobification of Logan Echolls because what they're really doing is showing where his rise up with fists start, and how unable to control his violence he is, and how that all kicked into gear when Lily Kane dies. It's not an excuse, but it's good character work and it makes me happy. I also watched the Final Ep of S3 and was pleased and quite annoyed to have no more in front of me.
Mostly, it makes me think of noir, and the noir I'm writing and the fact that I'm going to have to take a sharp turn from illicit daylight sex and land war secrets to look at family because noir is about how all those things eat at family. How often, secrets and familial ties define the dark choices we make. How ultimately, what we're willing to do is almost always defined by who were willing to do it for.
