I'm putting a stop to this!
Jun. 18th, 2003 11:50 amThis is ridiculous. I'm never sick for this long. There must be someone who I can see about this, someone that I can demand a cure from. Frelling head cold making me unable to concentrate on anything! 300 words. All I have to do is write 300 words and I just can't seem to make coherent sense of it. GRRR.
Also, I'm wearing the new perfume I bought and it's freaking me out a little. I've warn Chanel's Coco since I was 19. Oh, I have other occasion perfumes like Samsara or Aveda's Eros or Allure, but I love Coco. However, 10 years is a long time to be loyal to one perfume, so I bought some Jack Black in New Orleans. It's sort of unisex, and does smell like really expensive men's cologne - not that it was that expensive, it just has those warm spicy tones that the best men's cologne has, but I can only smell one or two notes of it and it doesn't smell like me and frankly, it's freaking me out a little in my already hallucenogenic state.
Damien Rice's O is one of the best CD's that I've purchased this year. Me singing along to it isn't winning me any friends, though.
The response to Undertones at Kansas has been really positive. Thank you to everyone who has read and commented. It's much appreciated. But, feel free to tell me if the ending is too sappy. I can, on occasion, take constructive criticism.
Ok, let's get this out of the way. Meltdown is silly, it's cheesy and inherently giggle worthy. It also refuses to take itself seriously and is damn sexy. It's worth the entire 42 minutes for that ass shot. Ok, that maybe my own prejudices talking (and why do I suddenly feel even more incoherent).
It's also fun. John and Aeryn unable to keep their hands off each other. Crais turning into Captain Bly, demanding to be obeyed and Aeryn giggling at him. Stark - ah Stark, you are such a lunatic. But there are still important moments. Crais obviously feels inadequate with Talyn who is growing more and more uncontrollable. Offering Stark any sort of control was a terrible idea, and a good sign that Talyn's judgement is more than a little questionable.
As always, it's the character interaction that's so compelling. Despite the silliness, it's still a treat to see John and Aeryn enjoying themselves, happily lusting after each other and loving each other, respecting their respective skills and strengths, despite being very distracted. And in light of what's coming next, it's definitely an ep to appreciate on those levels alone.

Date: 2003-06-18 02:08 pm (UTC)Meltdown is such a silly, cute episode. I love it to bits. And it's hot as hell.
I love that line of John's, the look on his face.

Date: 2003-06-18 10:09 pm (UTC)just say no to echinecea!
Date: 2003-06-19 08:47 am (UTC)argh... echinecea sent me into the hospital.. turns out I'm severely allergic to it... well, duh, it's related to ragweed, but still!
sure it's a head cold and not some dastardly allergy, as I am suffering from all this week? :-) claritan and pseudofed... granted, the beer I drank last night probably countered some of that, but I was watchign Strictly Ballroom and needed the beer for the spew factor...
..talk about incoherent! :-)
