You Know You Want It
May. 21st, 2008 02:17 pmOkay, so, it's my birthday in two weeks and 1 day. What I'm getting for my birthday is the normal existential angst of being unwed, un-baby producing, un-book contracted, and unknown as the universal savior; a plane ticket home to attend smaller step-sister's wedding with tons of relatives that aren't my relatives; some athletic wear for the marathon training; and hopefully some snazzy shoes to wear with the dress I purchased for the wedding.
What I want is an iPhone. Yes, it makes me sound petty and shallow, and when I approached the subject with my mother she said, "I'm helping you move, I'm not buying you an iPhone", and really, who's to argue with that?
So, to make myself feel better, I'm listing all of the things I actually want MORE than an iPhone:
1. The American version of "Touching Evil" out on DVD. Yes, it's summer and my crush on Jeffrey Donovan is niggling at me.
2. This bed frame. Or any bed frame."
3. A couch that does not smell like cat pee. Frankly, this is so much more important than the style of couch I couldn't even choose an example.
4. An arm band for my original (v.2 or 3) iPod so I don't have risk dropping the damned thing.
5. These shoes to go with the dress I got majorly on sale at Nordstrom. Or maybe these Mmmm, Michael Kors.
6. A working TV with a face bigger than that of my computer screen.
7. To go see the godchild and her parents in July.
8. Three days to write and lounge by the beach.
9. Something pretty for my office - a clock, a mirror, a framed picture. Something that makes it look less like what it is. Or just to frame some of my prints.
10. The amazing super duper housecleaning ladies to come help me do my laundry and clean my room!
So, what about y'all, what do you currently want more than an iPhone?
