Thanks to everyone who dropped by to share their fannish top three. These have made me smile for most of the day. I like seeing just how good we can be to each other, how much joy we take in each other and in the media of our choice, how much words - whether from friends or peers or artists or characters - can do for us, can take us and shape us and how grateful I am that those things are out there to hold onto.

The whole being sad thing all the time is still lingering (now coupled with the fabulous treat of randomly crying at work), but it's an amazing thing to be able to look at joy, at kindness and hesitance and embarrasment and glee and laughter in other people and follow that path.

Feel free to keep adding to the list, and I encourage everyone to post the responses at their own LJs. When I've seen this done, it seem to provoke a really nice response.

Fannish reciprocity in the form of spouting off:
And since I don't even know if I can limit my fandom moments to three, I invite you to either suggest a show, or a pairing, or a book, or a song, or a fannish event, or fans in general and I will tell you either a scene or a line or a moment that I love and hold close. If I don't know the source, I will happily either make something up or tell you my favorite fannish osmosis moment about it.

Speaking of fannish osmosis, despite not being overly impressed by any of the Supernatural episodes that I've seen, I finally realized that if this show is at all about road trips and classic rock and family, it might be just what I need right now because road trip movies are so my guilty pleasure and I want to write about road trips and crappy motels. I still wish there were women actively in this because I'd like to see women in road trip movies, but I may have to reverse my don't care policy on this show long enough to give it another try.

And, after another two weeks of not being able to write, I had another moment of inspiration with the NIP, envisioning a scene unfolding, having that taste of the setting and the words. This story is such an adventure to me because I'm following tendrils and trails, filling in gaps, filling in worlds and moments and some of this is wrapped up in the texture of words and some of it is all about the imagery I get, these people wholly formed, sitting in sunlight and starry darkness.
