Officially giving up the Grownup Badge
Sep. 7th, 2004 01:53 pmFirst of all - glad to see that the Floridians seem to be safe and sound!! That is a relief. And I hope the travelers all had a fine time:)
And almost first of all, hugs, kisses, eyelash batting adoring glances, and possibly my first born to
infinitemonkeys for the fabulous array of CD's she burned and sent to me!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Anything you'd like in return, or trade, just name your price, baby!!
The weekend was long, and hot, and trying and exhausting, and in small pockets- fabulous. Time with the boy was interrupted to go to the emergency room for my friend C at 2:00 a.m.. Her appendix burst, and I've been staying with her at her house for the past two days since she doesn't have any family here. I'm glad to be able to help, to walk the dog and get her things and just be there for her. There's nothing like illness to make you feel completely alone.
I've got a hate on for Kinkos, but 30 brochures got delivered this morning. That's saying something. Believe me when I tell you this. The odds were looking incredibly iffy at about 11:30 last night.
I'm exhausted, I have a headache, and I do not have the $10,000 estimated for the closing costs on a condo. I feel like I'm back to square one, and realize the time and research and savings may solve this problem, but mostly I want to cry and stomp my feet and say, but I want it now!!!
I did no writing this weekend. I did go to a fabulous BBQ at the lovely casa de
sabine101 and
sorlklewis who was supposed to be up very early this morning for a P.E. class:) I hope she made it. I drank a little too much gin, and had far, far too many cigarettes and talked too loudly and too much, but I had a marvelous time. It was lovely to rescind the adulthood, and just hang out on a lovely summer night for a few hours, before going back to Kinkos at 12:30 to correct the margins of my brochure.
rubberneck is just barrelling through the climax of Little Acorns, so it's looking like we'll be watching the trailer soon:)
That being said, I've really liked the 50 things meme, seen most recently in
elishavah's LJ, so I'm sheeping along.
