Rare ranting ahead - feel free to ignore.
Aug. 20th, 2003 11:47 amRant A - I finished the fucking copy for this publication in May. May!!! And I'm getting the blue line today! It is decidedly not May anymore. I know why this happened. It was an effort to force them to pay, but they're my favorite clients and it pisses me off.
Also, the frelling California Department of Education has snazzied up their STAR site so much that I can't print the information I need, but instead must copy the data out longhand. There are words and phrases that I am using about them that I don't feel comfortable committing to paper.
Rant B- Boys. I'd like to upgrade from the one's I currently have in my life. They're cute and eminently employable, but they're also a pain in the ass. Anyone want to trade? Apparently, now that I am not longer the object of affection, I must be greeted by a deer in the headlights look and copious drug usuage. Fucking boys. And M. is freaking out because we may have to move. "How am I supposed to establish an acting career if we have to pay more in rent." Well, my love, we've been here for five years. I don't see your name in lights yet. That's because you've been sitting on your ass waiting for them to find you!
Rant C- Michael Moore. Yes, I agree. Bowling for Columbine is an important film that raises important questions and proves that Marilyn Manson is not a moron. Moore is still manipulative, self-involved and a shoddy researcher who makes the liberal media look bad. He stirs up controversy that fuels debate though, I have to give him that. The best part of BfC is the section in Flint, Michigan. It's the only time he addresses the real roots of gun violence - economic stratification, cultural tensions, disenfranchisment, the effect of the business culture on our behavior. When everything is for sale, a price is exacted.
Non ranting, now.
shaye has a very nice discussion going on about audience and storytelling and the business of television, and
infinitemonkeys has produced a side-splitting manifesto that has let to icons with subliminal messages. Yeah for LJ land.
I have ordered my Volume 3.4 Farscape DVD's. I want them right now, though. I've deliberately not watched those episodes for a very long time so I could roll and revel in them in digital clarity.
I know I will not remember to set the VCR for MI-5. Thank god it's on Saturday nights.
crankygrrl is on vacation because she's nonessential government personnel. Hee hee. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
