Euphoric and slightly nauseous
Nov. 16th, 2004 04:40 pmBit the bullet, made my bank account weep and bought the iBook G4 and an Epson Color printer. Much of Sunday's misery was due to the running around necessary to use Quark and print. Now, that's no longer going to be a problem. Nor is the dependence on other people's equipment or on work to maintain my digital toys.
But, well, regardless, it's a lot of money and while I think it will pay for itself, I still feel like I've got a strong case of vertigo. But, dude, G4, uber processing and my poor, beautiful original ice blue iMac is going to feel like the redheaded stepchild now. Sigh, the cat will still love it.
And for the Hussies coming to stay at Casa de Thea, both the DWP and The Gas Company say we're all paid up!! Whoo Hoo!

Date: 2004-11-17 06:36 pm (UTC)this is very true. ANd since there is no transit where I live, and biking would be painfully taxing to impossible, a car is a necessity. And this is MUCH nicer than a junker....

Date: 2004-11-17 06:35 pm (UTC)this is EXACTLY my worry. I LOVE the car -- it's a Nissan Xterra, black, power windows/locks, CD changer etc -- really quite loaded. And it FITS me. It handles beautifully, and I really need 4WD where I live -- not least of which because I am not a very good driver, really ;).
So yes, I adore it.
And I SHOULD be able to afford it. In theory. And its a good deal. But until it is done and I am making painful monthly payments, there is an eep factor....

Date: 2004-11-17 06:36 pm (UTC)The car thing is such a monster that you spend a lot of time looking at it with a mixture of love and resentment and stunned awe:)
Good luck with it though, and much as I love LA, for me, the principal draw back is the need for a car. I hate having to be reliant upon it.
