ETA: My boss had not set things up properly, although he refuses to tell me what he did to fix this issue, but it involved the router and the wires that I had questioned earlier. When the right plugs were um, filled up, my printer came back and I could print.

This, this is why I don't want them to touch my computer. Ever. It's just inevitable that something'll get screwed up if I'm not the one doing the tech work. And yeah, yeah, giggle all you want. I don't have to know how it works, to follow the directions and make it work right:)

Following in [livejournal.com profile] shaye's footsteps, I'm sending out a call for help from the Mac-ites out there.

My iMac is connected to the DSL router, which also sends my document to the printer. (This is all very magical and mysterious to me, but it worked perfectly up until recently).

When they moved my computer during my vacation at Cedars, I have a feeling that something didn't get set up right. I can still get internet, can still access the other computers on the network, but I can't print.

Went through everything, Print Center, etc. with no result. It says Printer not responding even though it lists the correct printer.

Then, of course, I made it worse. I (sort of accidentally) deleted the printer in Print Center. And now I can't get it back. I also can't access any other printer options, even the ones we don't have, which is unusual.

So, any suggestions? I'm desperate.

OS X I assume?

Can you Add a Printer through the Print Center and try it that way?

I'm on Yahoo right now, so I might be able to talk you through it

Nope. When I click on Add a Printer, nothing comes up as an option. Nothing at all!!! Oy. It was perfect when I left it. This is why I don't let other people touch it!

so no printer that's connected to the network pops up? Hmm. Is there an option to add a printer manually?

Sounds like you have lost the driver software to your printer.
You should be able to find a what you need a the printer
brand website. Hopefully when you reinstall that it works.

Hee - amazingly enough (and not at all surprisingly) when they plugged the cords into the right slots in the router, everything returned to normal:)

My frustration was that I'd downloaded the drivers, etc and it didn't help:) Thanks though!!
