My brain's mixed up but I smell yummy

Got home last night at 9:30 p.m. to discover that my stuff from Lush had finally arrived. Now the cat and I smell like Skinny Dip shower gel - all warm white chocolate and cloves. I am supposed to smell this way. The cat is not, but the lure of paper, bath products and a cardboard box combined with my poor judgement in leaving the box on the coffee table unattended for a few moments lead to the inevitable disaster.

I find it terribly altering to my sense of how the world should work that the Canadians have access to something that I do not:) We are Americans, we are superior, shouldn't we have Lush stores in more than one or two cities?! Hee Hee. I can't even write that with a straight face.

Didn't get to write last night because I got home so late - Latin student, French student, Latin student. It's a wonder my brain still functions in English. As it is, my vocabulary gets all tangled up when I teach those languages back to back and I tried to teach the subjunctive in the wrong language. Let me tell you, saying to a kid, "it's a mood not a tense" gets you very little aside from blank stares and obscene mutterings.

However, back to writing - [livejournal.com profile] rubberneck continues her scenettes and [livejournal.com profile] whitelight1 was attacked by J/A shmoop to her surprise, which along with the good crack that I've been harrassing from [livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl kept me happy and satisfied yesterday. Which means I should probably return to Word and get myself back to work.

the good crack that I've been harrassing from crankygrrl

Cranky's giving out the good crack? I want some!!!!!!! WHAAAAAA! Okay who do I have to blow to get some of the good stuff? *looks around at LJ friends list and realizes that the majority of her friends are females* Oh wait...let me think about that. *bg*

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
I've been harrassing her mercilessly in the guise of trying to help her cure her writer's block on her epic. She's desperately trying to defend herself so I'll leave her alone:)

shouldn't we have Lush stores in more than one or two cities?!

Dude! They're in San Francisco?! *feldman shivers at the thought of not paying international shipping*

[identity profile] life-on-queen.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
Thea exaggerates: the crack is barely middling. I am deeply unhappy with the crack. The crack is giving me major tsouris. Feh.

However, check you yahoo account.

You're right about the J/A schmoop. It was quick and fast acting. Made me write it then and there.

I had another J/A attack last night right as I was falling asleep.

This one is not pretty. I just sent the first pages over to Kaz to gauge the evil quotient.

We'll see...

I wish my cat got into nice smelling things.

Just the other night, she decided to dump the garbage and rip it open.

Nice surprise when I got home...

Canadians Are Superior!

Heh.

And we have better beer.

A friend of mine used to say (not me, mind you!)

"Canada is good for two things: water and hockey."

You just reminded me of it.

I didn't say this, don't kill me. I was just relaying it, being the messenger.

Evil J/A! Yeehaw!

The world needs evil J/A.

Actually, the world needs a lot of things... and pretty much all of them have to do with fic I want to read. Huh.

Canadians are superior!

To what, I'm not entirely sure. But they are!

To Australians? *runs away*

Re: Repeat After Me

[identity profile] apathocles.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
Quite possibly.

There has been many a time in which I would prefer to be Canadian than Australian... particularly in regards to Australian foreign policy of late. *grumble*

What I'd really like to do is move to New Zealand. Beautiful scenery, snow, bugger-all people, and cute guys with cute accents. Plus, more sheep than you can poke a stick (or... something else) at!

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
The sad fact is that I've lived in L.A. for 5 years and haven't been to SF since I was a kid. Clearly, now I have a reason!! How did I miss that? (Although the shipping was pretty reasonable for this last order).

Hee hee. Better beer than who? Typical American beer bites, but we have some excellent state-specific local brew - Fat Tire Ale from Boulder, CO, Summit Pale Ale, for MN, Devil's Mountain, from CA (although I haven't had that in so long I'm not sure it counts), Red Seal, Sierra Nevada, mmm, now I want beer. I think my employers would from on that.

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
Can't wait to see what you come up with! Evil or not.

And my cat normally smells pretty good because he lounges on a box of books next to the bookcase where I keep my perfume so the detritus drifts onto him in the morning when I spray it. He was so a gay man in his last life. He just doesn't have a lot of will power when it comes to boxes and newspaper.

The other one is the trash fiend, although our regular trash is covered. He steals plastic and gum. Love my cats, yes I do.

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
She lies it is good!! She's just unhappy about it, and has no reason to be so. It's good enough so that I'm salivating for more!

Re: Repeat After Me

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hee - truthfully, I've always heard it as beer and hockey:)

Aren't you Australian? You're supposed to be rah rahing for Oz:) Come on, this is you're chance to make fun of the whole North American Continent, although we don't have representation from Mexico!

[identity profile] life-on-queen.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
No, no. I've decided: it's awful, I suck, and I'm going to be stuck in my gov't job forever. ;p

But I now have chocolate cake, so my mood is rapidly improving...

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
Matching up your national identity with your nation's policy is always a tough one. I'm actually happy to be American, even when I'm ashamed of all of the things we've done and all of the things we represent to the world. I feel a sense of responsability for that, and try to not be that stereotype, and try to enact the changes I believe in. Mostly because, unless things continue to get worse in our foreign and domestic policy, I'm too old to be happy about being a permanent expatriate:)

And I'm definitely too much of a baby to go live with the Canadians. I'm tired of being cold 9 months out of the year:)

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
If you were closer, I'd throw something at you. I have a Shawn the sheep figurine that's on loan from a friend sitting on my desk. I bet it would ricochet nicely off a person's skull.

It is not awful. You do not suck, and you are not going to be stuck at your government job forever:) I promise! Partly, because you're almost done with your work, which means you won't be stuck at your gov't job today. Hee hee. And yeah for chocolate cake. The cake has mighty powers to increase your levels of happiness and inspire you to continue my fix.

Didn't I say something yesterday about not harrassing you? Hmm, I wonder what that was:)

I have a bottle of Mexican liquor in my pantry. Does that count?

[identity profile] life-on-queen.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It is not cold nine months of the year!

*rollseyes* Jeez. I mean, Toronto's warmer in the summer than Rochester: just ask [livejournal.com profile] cretkid.

Always with the stereotypes. Don't make me hit you with my hockey stick...

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I lived in friggin' Buffalo. I lived in St. Paul. I know cold. But I'm taking a wild guess on Canada. Hee hee. Put away the hokey stick my little maple leaf. And I actually do believe you that Toronto is warmer than Rochester, but right now, I've got sun 357 days of the year. The entire rest of the continental US looks cold to me:) Except Florida and Arizona and I don't want to be that warm either!

Re: Repeat After Me

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2003-09-09 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Only if I can count the crappy Mexican beer in our vegetable drawer. Boys with restaurant jobs shouldn't be allowed to buy beer if they can't afford decent beer. Just 'cause it's made in Mexico doesn't mean Tecate's drinkable.

[identity profile] apathocles.livejournal.com 2003-09-10 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
*whines* But I don't wanna! Rah rah for Oz, that is. Making fun of North America is always good. *g*

But seriously... eh. We're quite possibly the most apathetically patriotic people in the world. We don't particularly like success, and tend to go against our sporting teams once they do well more than two times in a row (which explains why so many of us hate our cricket team *g*)... although this rule tends to go out the window if we're going against either England or the US. Don't ask me to explain any of it, because I have no idea why it's so.

We're strange. *g*

Well, my stepsis that just moved home from Cali assured me that, compared to LA, Toronto is cold nine months of the year. ;P Feh.

However, we are warmer than Buffalo. And less prone to catching fire.

Re: Repeat After Me

[identity profile] life-on-queen.livejournal.com 2003-09-10 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
Canadian beer is better than all American beers.

This is a central tennet of Canadian national identity. As is our belief that Canadians can drink twice as much American beer as Canadian beer without getting drunk.

Hence the following joke that every Canadian learns around about the time they start buying their own beer (18-19):
"What does making love in a canoe and American beer have in common?'

"They're both fucking close to water."

Closely tied with the joke that is purportedly an American import:
"How do you get 50 drunken Canadians out of your pool?"

"Ask them to leave."

All good things. And Buffalo, technically, was warmer than St. Paul, and I'm all about the not catching fire. I actually quite liked Toronto when I visited there (although I saw more of the airport than anything else:)
