Friday. Yay Friday.

We are going to see The Wooster Group's Hamlet tonight, which while not 5 hours long, does not appear to be substantially shorter than most productions of Hamlet. However, I like Hamlet, and I like post-modern interpretations and get all giddy and swoony at words like "archeological reconstruction" when applied to art a) because it cracks me up and b)because it means that whether I hate it or love it or fall somewhere in between, it'll make me think.

Plus, you know, no TV makes anything visual kind of novel. M. and I are going to have to start acting things out, like that goofy commercial about video games, to entertain ourselves.

Also, I've seen this meme (primarily from [livejournal.com profile] voleuse):

Give me a character and I'll give you the following "Five Things ______ Doesn't Know About _______

Which sounds like fun.

Thirdly, there's a question on [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon about which secondary female character you'd like to see get her own spin-off (she can come from any form of media). (I don't have an answer as I don't watch a lot of shows without primary female characters, and the ones I do - Entourage,e.g, my so guilty pleasure - have such a problematic relationship with women and femininity that I'm not sure I'd want more insight into the women willing to put up with these men. I mean, I love me some Ari Gold, but dude, his wife has to be as nutty as he is to keep him. Plus, the boys would all rather be with each other, and I don't even need slash to tell me that. Okay, so maybe I'd have watched a whole show about CJ Cregg, or Ainsley, or Abby Bartlett. Not Donna, though. Sorry. Donna Moss, until the end, was way too much Sorkin-woman for me).

So my follow up question is which character from a non-visual piece of media deserves her own show? And how would it play out - mini-series, limited run, 5 year contract? Or even a primary character in visual media. How would the show be different if she were the POV character?

I mean, I've written plenty of Aeryn POV for Farscape, but I wonder how the tone of the show would have been different if hers were the acknowledge primary story instead of John's (I think it's arguable that hers is just as important to the heart of the story, but it is, ultimately, John's story).

What if Firefly were Zoe's story, instead of Mal and River's?

So how about five things Glinda doesn't know about Elphaba? *g*
