What is it that allows boys to sit around for hours on end doing nothing? I was up until 2 a.m. playing with C.'s 200 disk CD changer. It gave me some sense of what that Y-chromosone is all about. My mother called to say she was going camping and I whined about being tired. Her response was just to laugh, "Your father and Mark used to sit around for hours listening to records. They didn't talk or do anything, they just sat there forever." So apparently it's universal.

My cats are hot and bored which means trouble. And that trouble has involved vast quantities of chewing gum that they dig out of my trash and I step in when I get up in the morning. They're weird little buggers, that's for sure. Why gum? They don't eat it, they just fish it out and play with it, and on one memorable occasion managed to roll in it. There's nothing more humiliated than an embarrassed Siamese with a bald patch on his back.

I stayed at work way too late last night writing and now I'm sore and tired and grouchy. So I'm overplaying the Minibar CD. But I like it and it's my computer. There's all sorts of lovely writing going on, which is a joy to behold : [livejournal.com profile] whitelight1, [livejournal.com profile] crankygrrl, [livejournal.com profile] fbf, and [livejournal.com profile] rubberneck have all posted things recently, along with [livejournal.com profile] cretkid's reworking of one of her Derryverse snippets, and there is snippeting going on all over. Yeah! And [livejournal.com profile] suelac has apparently finished her Scorpy five things fic, which I think will be at Farscape World at some point. If you haven't read her Five Things That Never Happened to Aeryn Sun, go do that now.

And [livejournal.com profile] elishavah and [livejournal.com profile] themoonbar have both posted Alias fic. Good for them for branching out (they do it so people like me don't have too - I know Anna's written in a variety of other fandoms. Most everyone has, but not me and it's highly unlikely that I will, so that just impresses me more:)

I dreamt last night that I'd finally left M. and moved into a dorm room. And I wasn't sad, although apparently I didn't tell him that I was leaving.

Odd, since he's on my good list having purchased Season 2 of Futurama, and strangely enough the Charlie Daniels Band CD. Every summer it's something. I loved Crichton Kicks, but I did get awfully tired of the 1812 Overature after the 800th time I heard it. I'd just so love to live alone, and I go home everyday with the dreaded anticipation that we will have to move and at this point, I just want to know and move forward.

I got a little stymied this morning chosing a rec for [livejournal.com profile] uncharted_tales, nothing older was satisfying my inner editor, and I'm not sure why I feel so unforgiving this morning. So instead of asking what bugs you in fic, what makes you pleased when you read it, what makes you say, yes, that's satisfying? For me it's pace and structure and detail and care.
